Let's get right to it !
1. Alabama
32-7 win over MS St, a grind it out type win. They are off this coming week and will remain #1 before they take on Auburn and then Florida in the SEC Title game.
2. USC
A big second half propelled them 45-23 over Stanford. They did the sleep walk effort in the first half of this game. They will remain #2 and have a week off until they hammer Notre Dame in two weeks and then close out with UCLA. One thing that helps them is Oregon State keeps winning and their loss to them doesn't look as bad now as it did back then.
3. Texas
Hammered Kansas 35-7 and they will remain #3 as they won't play until Thansgiving evening against TX A&M. Question is will they be in the Big 12 title game in a rematch with Missouri?
4. Oklahoma
They had an off week and have the big game of the week vs Texas Tech. Where it gets interesting is if they win over Tech, what happens to them in the BCS. Coaches will put them #2, will it be enough to overcome Texas to play Missouri in the Big 12 title game and into the BCS title?
5. Florida
Another blow out win vs an out manned SEC team. They have Citadel and Florida St remaining before the clash with Alabama in the SEC title game. It could be a Florida vs Oklahoma or Texas or Texas Tech title game. If it's not Florida then Alabama will play one of the 3 listed. I see no other scenario at this point. Unless Auburn beats Alabama and then Alabama beats Florida.
6. Texas Tech
Had the week off before their season game with Oklahoma and the close out with Baylor. Tech wins they control their destiny only having to beat Baylor before facing Missouri in the Big 12 title game. I still say this team is a big fraud and hope they are exposed by the Sooners on Saturday. They did beat Oklahoma last year 34-27, anything is possible.
7. Utah
Smashed SD St 63-14 and have their biggest game of the season with in state rival BYU to close the season. They lost to BYU last year 17-10. Win this game and they are in the BCS somewhere, maybe in the Fiesta Bowl.
8. Boise St
Beat Idaho 45-10 and have Nevada on the road and then Fresno at home to close it out. They beat Nevada last year 69-67. The thing that helps Boise is they play for two straight weeks when most teams either close the regular season next week or have a bye then play. They will get some attention over the next few weeks. They should look to blow out their opponents.
9. Georgia
Barely held on again this week beating Auburn 17-13. They have the week off before facing Ga Tech. How this team was #1 pre season is totally beyond me.
10. Missouri
Beat Iowa St 52-20 and with this win it puts them in the Big 12 title game no matter what happens in 2 weeks vs Kansas. Only question is who will they play in the title game?
Some interesting title game opportunities right now... Alabama controls their destiny, I can see a scenario where 2 Big 12 teams play for the title. Auburn beats Alabama and then Alabama regroups and beats Florida. Both of these teams would be knocked out of the title game chase. Thus leaving Oklahoma who has to beat Texas Tech and Oklahoma St. Texas would just need to beat Missouri again and it's all set. Let's say Oklahoma beats Tech but then loses to Ok St....well guess who just sneaks into the title game ... you got it USC and they may not even play Texas if they would lose to MO in the Big 12 title game. USC vs Utah??
I know a lot has to happen for USC to make the title game but wouldn't be something if they did and don't even win their conference outright.
Realistically speaking now.....I can see a Florida/Texas, Florida/Oklahoma, Florida/USC title game.
First thing first, Oklahoma has to beat the fraud Texas Tech. I make Oklahoma a 6 point favorite over Tech, and when Florida plays Alabama in the SEC title game, I think Florida will be favored by 7 or more. Yes 7 or more....
Congrats to Michigan for losing their 8th game for the first time ever in their 129 year history, next game vs Ohio State will make it 9.
Kudos to 3 road dogs of 7+ points
Central Florida+ 7 30-14 over Marshall
Rutgers + 8.5 49-16 over South Florida
Boston College +7 27-17 over Florida St
This weeks high flyer is Houston who did to Tulsa exactly what Tulsa pretty much did to everyone else. Score 70 points in a 70-30 win over Tulsa. They smashed the over/under of 80.5. So much for Tulsa and that undefeated stuff now 2 straight big losses.
I just wanted to toss these gems out for NCAA Hoops fans.. how about Northeastern winning at Providence. The Big East is deep eh? Well how about Portland U beating Washington who was favored by 12.
Finally how bad is Rice going to be this year when they are underdogs to power house Portland St?
Funny start to the NCAA Hoops season but I won't have a poll for them for quite some time, we have a lot of NCAA Football to get through first, but it's always good to give some nuggets to get you ready.
Thanks for reading and let's get ready for another week of NCAA Football.
