Padres 5-inning RL -0.5 (-130)

The Braves have played a lot of baseball in the last couple days and have traveled all the way across the country after their doubleheader yesterday. Then to add insult to injuries, Sale can't go this series. Atlanta used up most of their pitchers in the games yesterday then had to scramble after Sale said he was out. So now they are forced to go with Smith-Sawyer. A 21-year with a total of 29.2 innings pitched in his mlb career. I doubt he goes longer than 3 innings and then after that it will be a pitching by committee.

The Padres have King who has been having a great year. 2.95 ERA, 201 K, 1.19 WHIP. All of which rank in the top 30 across baseball. He should be well rested as he hasn't pitched since last Tuesday where he threw 95 pitches gave up 3 hits on 0 earned. Also, the Padres have the highest batting average in all of MLB and will be playing at home. I don't see how Atlanta can get up for this game considering what all they have been through in the last 24 hours. And with the way SD was essentially embarrassed after missing the playoffs last year, I imagine they will come out focused and take this first game.

I hesitate to take any totals on this game as the Braves pitching is essentially TBD. As San Diego is a heavy favorite the run line is what makes most sense to me but it is already -1.5 at +124. I like SD to jump on this young pitcher and not give up many runs which is why I like them on the RL for the 1st 5-innings.

Good spot at home, Mets played a huge game and celebrated after the big win and then traveled. Mets offense only had 2 successful innings

Padres ML

I don't like the heavy price, but with Smith-Shawver starting for Atlanta I'm going to lay it. Also, San Diego is lined up to throw 3 straight righties and the Braves lineup is right-handed-heavy on the bottom half and on the bench, so will probably bet the Padres for the series as well.
