Pay attention to track, distance/surface biases. For example,
1-mile turf races might provide an edge for early speed types, but 1 1/16-mile turf races favor stalkers/closers.

Never chase your losses. Winners at the track are very disciplined. Sometimes its just not your day, but do not make it worse by making bets just to try and get "even." The idea is to stay patient, and bet when you believe you have an advantage or an edge that you can turn into a successful wager.

Using just one factor to handicap the races is a dangerous game. There are several factors within a race that must be analyzed. Try to stay away from only focusing on one aspect like speed figures or projected pace. Every factor is important.
