MaCio Teague led the Bears with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Davion Mitchell had 13 points. The Bears looked rusty offensively in just their second game in four weeks, shooting 34.8% from the field and 6/16 from the free throw line.

“Our guys, we didn’t quit. We had chances,” head coach Scott Drew said via the Associated Press. “It was down to five or seven, I thought we were right there. They drew a foul and I thought that was the turning point as far as our comeback.”

The Bears are also elite against the spread at 13-6, but haven't looked right in two games since coming off a lengthy COVID pause as they beat last-place Iowa State by just five as a 24-point favorite last week. Overs are 10-9 for the Bears, with the Kansas game going under the betting total to snap a streak of six straight overs.

Everyone was available for the Bears on Saturday and there shouldn't be any absences for the West Virginia game. It was recently reveled the Bears had as many as eight positive COVID tests during their three-week pause.

West Virginia crushes Kansas State
The Mountaineers figured to have no problems completing the season sweep over Kansas State over the weekend for their sixth win in seven games, and indeed led wire-to-wire over the Wildcats. West Virginia opened the game on a 15-6 run in the first 10 minutes, and later spurts of 12-2 and 17-0 extended the advantage as Kansas State scored just 21 points in the second half.

Sean McNeil led the Mountaineers with 16 points, while Derek Culver had 11 points and six rebounds. West Virginia's defense was in complete command, holding Kansas State to 29.4% from the field with 17 turnovers.

“I thought the second half we played pretty well. We were pretty efficient,” head coach Bob Huggins said to the Associated Press. “The first half was a miserable half for both teams.”

West Virginia is now 13-10 against the spread this season, and has covered in five of its last six games with the only loss coming by a point to the No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners in double overtime. Overs are a strong 15-8 for the Mountaineers, although each of their last two games have gone under the betting total.

The Mountaineers are inside the top 60 nationally in scoring at 77.1 points per game on shooting splits of 46.3% from two and 36.5% from three. Opponents are putting up 70.8 points per game against the Mountaineers while shooting 50.4% from two and 32.1% from beyond the arc.

Miles McBride is having an excellent season with 15.5 points and 4.6 assists per game on 42.9% shooting from three to lead the Mountaineers. Culver is averaging a double-double at 15 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, while Taz Sherman and McNeil are also in double figures scoring.

Starting forward Oscar Tshiebwe left the program in late December and is headed to Kentucky after averaging 8.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. Freshman forward Isaiah Cottrell injured his Achillies in December and will miss the rest of the season.

The Bobcats are scoring as well as anyone this year with 79.6 points per contest while they have held opponents to 73.7 points. The Bobcats usually come out the gates hot as they are scoring 41.2 points in the second half alone which they rely on to jump on teams.
The Bobcats have gotten big time minutes from Guard Jason Preston who is doing it all with 15.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game. The last time these two met, Preston could not lead the Bobcats to victory even with 23 points on 8-14 attempts. Kent State will not go away easily and the Bobcats will need more than Preston to knock them off. Forward Dwight Wilson III is also putting up big numbers with 15.2 points and 7.3 rebounds but was held to only 9 points in the last meeting. If these two can get it going they will have a good chance to take down the Golden Flashes.

Golden Flashes Looking For Sweep
Kent State took down the Bobcats by 10 points earlier this season and will look to do the same this time out. The Golden Flashes have been scoring 77.2 points per game which is right under the Bobcats total but their defense has been holding teams to 71.4 points. The Golden Flashes will not be able to rely on their solid second half play as the Bobcats are putting up similar numbers, Kent State is scoring 41.1 points in the second half.
