San Francisco has hit the skids losing four straight games and they host a BYU team that has won two straight and beat them earlier this season.

San Francisco has lost four straight games and with the last loss they fell under .500 (10-11) on the season. They are only 4-7 in West Coast Conference play and their offense has struggled in their four-game skid.

BYU has won two in a row and four of their last five games. They are 17-5, overall, and in second place in the WCC at 17-5. The Cougars are led by an offense that is averaging 79.2 ppg and they have scored at least 80 points in each of their last two games. Earlier in the season on the road they beat San Francisco 72-63.

Offense Has Struggled
San Francisco is averaging 72 ppg on the season but in their four game slide they are only averaging 63.8 ppg. In their last game they were at home and lost to Loyola Marymount 68-63 where they forced 22 turnovers but were outscored by 13 points in the second half and only shot 37.7% from the floor while allowing the Lions to shoot 55%.
Only two players for USF are averaging in double figures in the guard duo of Jamaree Bouyea (17.3 ppg) and Khalil Shabazz (15.8 ppg). Bouyea scored more than half the points for the Dons in the loss to LMU going for a season high 33 points after he had only totaled 18 points in his previous two games. Shabazz is only shooting 37% from thr floor on the season, had 10 points on 41.7% shooting in the last game, and has totaled 24 points in the last two games. FW Dzmitry Ryuny (9.3 ppg 5.7 rpg) is the third leading scorer and leading rebounder for the team, and he has only scored 16 points in his last four games.

San Francisco is 4-4 on the road this season.

Killing It in the First Half
BYU was on the road in their last game, and they beat Loyola Marymount 88-71 where they killed it in the first half outscoring the Lions by 22 points. The Cougars shot a scorching 55.4% from the floor and shot the 3-pointer well and held LMU to 43.6% shooting and forced 15 turnovers.
7’3” FW Matt Haarms (11.2 ppg) is the third leading scorer for the Cougars, and he went for 21 points on 87.5% shooting in the win over LMU while only totaling eight points in his previous two games.

G Alex Barcello (15.4 ppg) is the leading scorer on the season, and he has scored 15 points in each of his last two games. Fellow G Brandon Averette (11.5 ppg) has not shot the rock well in the last three games but in two of them, including the last one, he scored 14 points. In the 72-63 home win over San Fran earlier this season BYU held the Dons to a FG% of only 38.1%.

This season BYU is 9-2 at home.

The Oregon State Beavers will travel to the Haas Pavilion on Thursday night to take on the California Golden Bears in a Pac-12 battle. These teams faced off in the season opener in Oregon State as the Beavers picked up a 71-63 win. The Beavers are seventh in the Pac-12 with an 11-11 record and a 7-9 conference record. They are coming off a 61-57 loss against the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday. The Golden Bears are last in the Pac-12 with an 8-17 record and a 2-15 conference record. They are on a two-game losing streak after dropping a road game to the Washington Huskies 62-51 on Saturday.

These teams are close statistically in most of the counting stats so it will be interesting to see which team can take advantage of the situation. Let’s take a deeper dive into these programs to decide where we should be placing our wagers.

Experience Matters
Senior guard Ethan Thompson has been leading the scoring output for the Oregon State Beavers this season. He is averaging 16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 33.5 minutes per game. He is shooting decently as he is 41.4 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from three-point range, and 78.4 percent from the free-throw line. In his last game against the Buffaloes, Thompson played 38 minutes and finished with 18 points, two rebounds, seven assists, a block, and two steals. He will need to figure out how to repeat this performance if they want to win here.

The Oregon State Brewers have been a decent defense up to this point in the season as they are giving up 68.2 points. In their last game against the Colorado Buffaloes, they allowed 61 points on 19-of-43 (44.2 percent) from the floor, 4-of-18 (22.2 percent) from beyond the arc, and 22 free-throw opportunities. If they can defend without fouling here, they should be able to win the game.

Forward Thinking
Junior forward Andre Kelly has been leading the scoring output for the California Golden Bears this season. He is averaging 10.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 0.4 steals in 26.4 minutes per game. He is shooting decently as he is 57.4 percent from the floor and 57 percent from the free-throw line. In his last game against the Huskies, Kelly played 24 minutes and finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and a steal. He will need to figure out how to repeat this performance if they want to win here.
The California Golden Bears have been a decent defense up to this point in the season as they are giving up 70.2 points. In their last game against the Washington Huskies, they allowed 62 points on 21-of-49 (42.9 percent) from the floor, 8-of-23 (34.8 percent) from beyond the arc, and 16 free-throw opportunities. If they can limit the amount of open shots, they will be able to win here.

Two WCC teams will face off against each other on Thursday as the Pacific Tigers travel to University Credit Union Pavilion to take on the Saint Mary's Gaels. Pacific enters this game with an 8-7 record after beating San Diego on the road by ten points in its last game while Saint Mary's enters this game with a 12-7 record after beating Pepperdine at home by five points in its last game. This game will start at 11:00 P.M. EST.

Pacific Looks For Another Offensive Outburst
The Pacific Tigers enter this game in pretty good form as they have won each of their last two games including a ten-point road victory against the San Diego Toreros in their last game. In that game, Pacific's offense was solid as it scored 77 points while shooting 51.8% from the floor. However, that quality offensive performance was a bit surprising since the Tigers are averaging just 70.5 points per game. Now, Pacific will be looking for another offensive outburst with another road game up next on Thursday. However, the Tigers have lost five of their first eight road games as they have looked quite vulnerable in opposing arenas.
Leading the Tigers offensively is sophomore guard Daniss Jenkins who is averaging a team-high 12.0 points per game along with 3.5 rebounds per game. In addition, he is only averaging 1.5 turnovers per game as he has been very careful with the basketball.

Pacific's most underrated player is junior forward Jeremiah Bailey who is averaging 11.7 points per game along with 6.3 rebounds per game. In addition, he is averaging a team-high 1.7 steals per game as he has been Pacific's best on-ball defender up to this point.

Saint Mary's Looks For Another Home Win
The Saint Mary's Gaels have been in a bit of a slump lately as they have lost two of their last three games. On the bright side, Saint Mary's enters this game on a high note after defeating Pepperdine at home by five points in its last game. In that game, Saint Mary's defense was fantastic as it allowed just 61 points while forcing the opposition into shooting just 26.7% from the three-point line. Now, the Gaels will be looking for another conference victory with another home game up next. Luckily, Saint Mary's has won 8 of its first 11 home games this season as it has looked significantly better at University Credit Union Pavilion up to this point.
Leading the Gaels offensively is senior guardTommy Kuhse who has been great so far this season as he is averaging a team-high 13.2 points per game along with a team-high 5.2 assists per game. In addition, he is shooting 82.5% from the free throw line as he has been very valuable late in games.

SaintMary's most underrated player is junior forwardMatthias Tass who is averaging 10.8 points per game along with 4.9 rebounds per game. In addition, he is shooting 52.1% from the floor as he has displayed some tremendous shot selection up to this point.

This Washington State team is a ton of fun to watch right now. They are coming off a 31-point blowout win over California and a nine-point, triple-overtime win against Stanford. Both of these games were played without their star point guard Isaac Bonton and this team is playing with a ton of belief right now.

Just when I thought Arizona had given up on its season and the mentality just wasn't there anymore, the Wildcats dropped 81 points on the road against USC and defeated the Trojans 81-72. The Trojans have a top-10 defense in the league and this was a stellar win. After a brutal three-game stretch, Arizona returns how to face Washington State and Washington back-to-back.

The Emergence of Noah Williams
Star point guard Isaac Bonton has been out for the last three games and may be out for the season. He was giving the Cougars 18.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 36 minutes of play. However, without him, Noah Williams has become a star. Williams is averaging 28 points per game over his last three and 36 points over his last two. Not only is he scoring at a tremendous rate, but he's also averaging 7 rebounds and 5.3 assists in the last three games. He has put this team on his back and I expect him to do so the rest of the way.
Washington State ranks 178th in offensive efficiency on KenPom. They are 96th in rebounding, 67th in getting to the free-throw line, and 122nd in three-point shooting. On the defensive side of the ball, this team has been stellar as they're ranked 38th overall. They are 35th in field goal percentage, 92nd in rebounding, 84th in three-point shooting, and 45th in two-point percentage.

All About the Mindset
The Wildcats have self-imposed a postseason ban on themselves this season. In other words, when their regular season ends, it's over for them. I was worried about them not caring about the season anymore after dropping four out of five and failing to score over 61 points in three of those games, but they proved me wrong in their most recent game against USC. In this game, Azuolas Tubelis was terrific, scoring 16 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Jordan Brown came off the bench to add 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Arizona comes in with the 19th ranked offense on KenPom. They are 88th in ball control, 21st in rebounding, seventh in free-throw attempts, and 27th in three-point percentage. This team ranks 84th in defensive efficiency. They are 42nd in defensive rebounding, 117th in two-point defense, and 66th in block rate.

James Akinjo leads the way with 14.8 points and 5.3 assists. Azoulas Tubelis contributes 12.2 points with 6.8 rebounds and Bennedict Mathurin adds 10.7 points with 4.3 rebounds.

The Blackhawks were a 6-5 winner in their most recent outing on the road against the Blue Jackets. That made winners of bettors who got Chicago at +103 on the moneyline, while the total score (11) was good news for OVER bettors.

After Alex DeBrincat got Chicago the win in a shootout on Tuesday night, the Blackhawks and Blue Jackets will square off again in Columbus on Thursday. This will be the sixth meeting between the two squads this year. Chicago currently holds the series advantage with three wins and two losses.

Chicago Looks to Gain Ground in Season Series
The Blackhawks are playing excellent hockey so far this year, and currently stand in third place in the Central Division standings with 24 points, just behind Florida and Carolina, who are among the best in the League to this point. Much of this success, especially lately, has come due to MVP-caliber play from Patrick Kane. They've won four of their past five, including their last two outings against Columbus, and Kane has now scored eight points in three games, for 30 on the season (9 goals, 21 assists).
Alex DeBrincat has played solidly as well, and has 19 points of his own (9 goals, 10 assists). The Blackhawks average 3.00 goals per game, and allow 2.95. They've found themselves in overtime far too many times this year, having gone past regulation eight times, winning four of them. This is despite some solid play in goal, Kevin Lankinen has a 8-3-3 record with a 92.128 save percentage and 2.59 GAA. Malcolm Subban has been equally impressive with 91.667% and 2.65.

They lead the league in power play percentage at 33%, but rank 21st in the league for penalty kill at 76.6%.

Columbus Looking to Climb Conference Standings
Columbus is looking to even the season series and take a step up in the Central standings after a tough loss. They finished the first period down 2-1, but were able to bounce back to eventually drive the game to overtime, where they lost in a shootout. Recent acquisition Patrik Laine scored two goals and added an assist, while tenured Blue Jacket Cam Atkinson added a goal and an assist of his own.
Atkinson leads the team in points with 16 (eight goals and eight assists), but Laine will likely catch up after missing several games to quarantine after his trade from Winnipeg.

The Blue Jackets' success comes in spite of their goal differential, they've allowed nine more goals than they've scored, but this comes down to several big losses to Carolina and Dallas, and a series of one-goal wins and losses. They do well on the penalty kill at 71.7%, but are quite pedestrian on the power play at 20%.

Blackhawks are 5-1 in their last 6 road games.

The Dallas Stars will remain at the BB&T Center on Thursday night to take on the Florida Panthers. These teams have played twice, including on Wednesday afternoon when the Stars won a 3-0 shutout where John Klingberg, Esa Lindell, and Joel Kiviranta each scored a goal. The Dallas Stars (6-4-4, 16 points) are tied for sixth in the Central Division and are under .500 on the road with a 2-3-1 record away from Dallas. The Stars snapped a six-game losing streak with their shutout win over the Panthers. The Panthers (12-4-2. 26 points) are on top of the Central Division and are 4-2 in their last six games.

The Stars and Panthers have played similar as they have scored seven combined goals in their first two games against each other (Dallas 4, Florida 3). Let’s take a deeper dive into the numbers to decide where we should be placing our wagers.

Keeping Solid with Pavelski
The Dallas Stars have been solid in the early stages of this season and one of the reasons is the play of center Joe Pavelski, who has been playing extremely well to begin the season. With a handful of players listed on the injury report, there has been a need for Dallas to show off their roster depth as a whole and continue their winning ways. He leads the team in goals and points as he has 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) this season and should be the early favorite for the Conn Smythe Award. In the last game against the Florida Panthers, he did not have a lot of production as he had a goal on two shot attempts in 16:54 on the ice. Pavelski has been playing like a create-a-player at this point and should be able to add some more points to his statistics by the end of the game.

Anton Khudobin and Jake Oettinger have played inside the goal for the Dallas Stars up to this point of the season. Oettinger has been playing decent in his limited action in his rookie season. He had a good game against the Florida Panthers, he allowed three goals on 21 shots in a victory. The Stars have allowed just 37 goals this season, which is the fourth fewest in the league. The defense has been solid, even as it was shortened in power plays as they allowed 11 goals on 53 attempts. Florida is a threat scoring the puck so this could be a defensive showing for Dallas, who just shut the Panthers out a day ago.

Assist Me Please
The Florida Panthers have been solid in the early stages of this season and one of the reasons is the play of left winger Jonathan Huberdeau, who has been playing extremely well to begin the season. Only Noel Acciari is listed on the injury report so this is one of the healthiest points of the season for the team. He is tied for seventh in the NHL in assists and points as he has 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) this season and has played extremely well as of late. In the last game against the Dallas Stars, he did not have a lot of production as he had an assist on four shots attempts in 19:55 on the ice. Huberdeau has been one of the best players in the last few weeks and should be able to add some more points to his statistics by the end of the game.
Chris Driedger and Sergei Bobrovsky have played inside the goal for the Florida Panther up to this point of the season. Driedger has been one of the best goalies in the league this season as had a good game against the Dallas Stars, he allowed two goals on 25 shots in a victory. The Stars have allowed just 48 goals this season, which is 12th in the league. The defense has been solid, even as it was shortened in power plays as they allowed 10 goals on 49 attempts. Dallas is a threat scoring the puck so this could be a defensive showing for Florida.
