The defending Bad Man champion has stepped back into the arena, and let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t a courtesy appearance, this is a declaration of dominance. While everyone else hesitates, second guesses, or hides behind excuses, the champ shows up because greatness doesn’t need an invitation. He’s not here to participate, he’s here to remind every single person why the crown sits on his head and not theirs. This is the guy who walked through last season like it was a warm‑up lap, the guy who made pressure tap out, the guy who turned picks into punishment. If you’re thinking about entering, understand exactly what you’re walking into: a buzzsaw with a memory. The champ isn’t defending his title, he’s collecting repeat victims. This is the beatdown, the smackdown, the reality check of epic proportions: the king is back, the throne is occupied, and anyone stepping up is volunteering to be the next example of why legends don’t get challenged, they get feared. ....

The Florida Atlantic Owls will host the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders for a late season Conference USA battle. It's been another long season for Middle Tennessee, while despite boasting one of the highest scoring averages in the country, Florida Atlantic has also endured a rocky season as well.

Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series 19-6, but Florida Atlantic has won the last two meetings.

Rough Season For The Raiders
Middle Tennessee (5-15, 3-11) is set to wrap up it's third straight losing season after enjoying one of the better mid-major runs of the 2010's. The Blue Raiders got off to a rough 3-11 start, and after losing leading scorer Dontrell Shuler in a win over Charlotte, they've dropped their last four contests.
Middle Tennessee averages an underwhelming 63.3 points per game, and shoot 39.7% as a unit. They've scored 60 or less ten times, and they've yet to win a road game. In Shuler's absence, Dayton transfer Jordan Davis has stepped up to lead the team in scoring (11.4) and assists (2.1).

Jalen Jordan and Jayce Johnson join him in the backcourt. Jordan averages 8.9 points per game and he leads the team in field goal percentage (47.6). Johnson scores 6.2 points per game, and grabs 3.9 boards per game. The Raiders also just received guard Donovan Sims back from injury, who averages 6.6 points per game. Jo'Vontae Millner-Criss and DeAndre Dishman start up front for the Raiders. Millner-Criss is third on the team in scoring (8.4) and he leads MTSU in rebounding (5.2)

Owls Looking to Finish Above .500
Florida Atlantic (10-9, 5-5) began the season pretty well. They got out to a 6-2 start, and despite dropping their first three Conference USA games, they responded by winning their next three and swept arch rival Florida International in the process. The Owls have been victims of rescheduling this season though, as they've had eight games postponed.
FAU is entering this contest coming off a pair of wins at Southern Miss. The Owls score an impressive 79.4 points per game, while shooting 46.7% from the field, and shooting 38% from deep. Senior forward Jailyn Ingram leads the team in scoring (13.4) and rebounding (5.8). He scored a season high 24 in the road win over FIU, and he's grown into a steady, reliable presence for the Owls. Junior Junior center Karlis Silins joins him up front, and he's been coming on as of late. He averages 9.8 points per game, and he's scored 14 or more in three of his last four games.

Junior guard Michael Forrest is second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game. His backcourt mate, Bryan Greenlee, scores 10.3 ppg and leads the Owls in assists (2.9). Sophomore guard Kenan Blackshear has carved out a starting role, and he scores 9.4 points per game.

In the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference eighth seed Bradley will be shorthanded and plays ninth seed Southern Illinois where the winner will take on the regular season conference champion Loyola Chicago.na have one thing going for them is their last two losses to a ranked Loyola team were both relatively close ones.na in a team that has a good defense but issues scoring the rock and that is even more so with the suspensions.na that is averaging in double figures on the season since the team lost FW Marcus Domask (16.na lost to Bradley 54-59 in the first round of the MVC tournament.

Defense Is Needed
Bradley is led by a defense that is giving up an average of 66.3 ppg and had given up an average of 80 ppg in their four-game skid before only giving up 61 points in winning the season finale. Their last game was facing a 24-win team in Drake where they won 67-61 where they only shot 42.1% but they held the Bulldogs to 42% shooting and 11.8% (2-17) shooting from 3-pt land.

With the top two scorers suspended for the Braves they have to have other players step up in the scoring department and the team needs to play good defense. FW Ja'Shon Henry (10.9 ppg) is the third leading scorer for the team but only had four points in the last game after totaling 32 points in the previous two games. Sean East II (8.7 ppg) scored 14 points in the last game after totaling 14 points in his previous two games. Jayson Kent is only averaging 3.6 ppg on the season but was big in the last win over Drake going for 15 points hitting five of nine 3-pointers.

Two fierce in-state rivals will collide on Thursday night when the Michigan State Spartans visit the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines in Big Ten action. Michigan State is still clinging to hopes of an at-large big in the NCAA Tournament after beating the Indiana Hoosiers 64-58 as a 3.5-point home favorite on Tuesday night to improve to 14-10 overall (8-10 Big Ten). Michigan will look to recover after being blasted 76-53 at home by the No. 4 Illinois Fighting Illini on Tuesday as a 8.5-point favorite to fall to 18-2 overall (13-2 Big Ten).

The Spartans lead the hotly-contested rivalry 68-63 all-time after the two teams split a pair of games last season.

Michigan State gets key bubble win
Facing a must-win game against an Indiana team that was also on the bubble on Tuesday night, Michigan State managed to prevail in a defensive struggle in East Lansing. The Spartans earned a 26-24 lead at the break in an ugly first half for both teams, and took the lead for good with seven minutes to go as the offense finally came to life with 22 points in the final 10 minutes.

Aaron Henry had a huge game for the Spartans with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Joshua Langford added 13 points and seven rebounds. It wasn't pretty offensively, but the Michigan State defense had a strong game holding Indiana to 32.7% from the floor including 2/20 from three.

"He does a lot of things for us," forward Gabe Brown said about Henry's elite performance in recent weeks to The Only Colors. “He is our captain. He does do the the vocal part, in the huddles he is great. He is phenomenal."

Michigan State is having a rough season against the spread at 8-16, but has covered in four of its last five games including massive upsets of Illinois and the No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes. Overs are 10-14 for the Spartans, with each of their last three games going under the betting total.

The Spartans rank exactly 205th nationally in scoring on both sides of the ball, with an average of 70.3 points per game on shooting splits of 48.1% from two and 32.7% from three. Opponents are putting up 71 points per game on the Spartans while shooting 48.2% from two and 31.1% from beyond the arc, which ranks a strong 55th in the country.

Henry has been terrific during the recent surge, bringing his season numbers to 15.4 points, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game to lead the Spartans in all four categories. Langford is also in double figures scoring, while Marquette transfer Joey Hauser has added 10 points and a team-high six rebounds per game.

Guard Foster Loyer, who put in 4.2 points and 2.3 assists in 16 games including seven starts, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

Michigan falls flat in top 5 showdown
The Wolverines had to be feeling good about Tuesday's matchup against Illinois with star Ayo Dosunmu out of the lineup, but were lifeless from the opening tip as the Fighting Illini dominated. Illinois built a 33-22 lead at the half as the normally elite Michigan offense couldn't get going, and things got worse after the break as Illinois was in complete command after a 12-2 run.

Eli Brooks led the Wolverines with 11 points and two steals, but no other Michigan starter finished with more than seven points as its stars struggled. Michigan had one of its worst offensive showings of the season at 34.7% from the field including 2/7 from three.

“They played with great activity from the jump of the ball. They hit us first. We weren’t prepared,” Isaiah Livers said to the Associated Press after scoring just seven points. “It felt like they were on a run the whole game.”

Michigan still has a terrific record against the spread at 15-5, and had covered in six of its previous seven games including wins over No. 5 Iowa and Ohio State before the ugly loss to Illinois. Overs are 8-12 for the Wolverines, as each of their last three games have gone under the betting total.

Despite Tuesday's ugly showing, the Wolverines have still been an excellent offense at 77.5 points per game on shooting splits of 54.3% (43rd-best nationally) from two and 38.8% from three (13th). Michigan is allowing 65.8 points per game, with opponents shooting 41.6% from two, the second-best mark in the nation, and 33.2% from beyond the arc.

Freshman Hunter Dickinson had a rare down game against Illinois, but has been one of the best players in college basketball with an average of 14.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game on 60% shooting from the field. Livers has added 14.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting over 45 percent from three-point range.

The Wolverines have been healthy for the majority of the season, and don't expect to have any absences on Thursday night.

These two programs met recently on Feb. 23 where WVU was able to hand TCU another BIG 12 conference loss 74-66.

The line in that first contest had WVU favored by -6.5 points and the total closed at 146 points. The Mountaineers were able to cover the spread winning by eight, but the total came in at 140 points so the under hit. WVU is at home leaving TCU to travel and that has the Mountaineers favored by 13 points in this contest and the total is hovering around 143.5 points.

TCU Looks For Revenge Against WVU
TCU continues its a very difficult stretch of three games in six days against ranked opponents when they battle WVU tonight on the road. The Horned Frogs already know their opponent in next week’s Big 12 Championship and TCU will play Kansas State at 5:30p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 10. Despite a poor record all but three of the Horned Frogs losses this season have come against teams with a NET ranking of 33 or better and are to teams currently ranked in the top 25. TCU is 11-2 in non-quadrant 1 games.
Last time out for the Horned Frogs resulted in a 20 point defeat to one of the best defensive teams in the country in Texas Tech on Tuesday night. RJ Nembhard scored only 10 points on a rough shooting night going only 4 for 12 from the floor. Freshman standout Mike Miles only had two points in the contest.

TCU features one of the top backcourts in the Big 12 with freshman Mike Miles and junior RJ Nembhard, both who rank in the top 12 in the Big 12 in scoring. Nembhard is fourth in the Big 12 in scoring with 16.6 points per game and has scored in double figures in 20-straight games, the most by a TCU player in three seasons. His seven 20-point games rank third in the Big 12. Miles from Lancaster, Texas is averaging 13.8 points per game to go with 3.6 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists.

WVU Loses OT Heartbreaker to Baylor
WVU began the season ranked No. 15 in both men's basketball polls. The rankings might change after the Baylor loss this week, but this season WVU has been ranked as high as No. 6 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the USA Today Coaches poll.
In what might go down as one of the more exciting basketball games of the college season, Baylor was just able to edge out a victory over the Mountaineers. WVU was trailing 31-35 at the intermission, but was able to push Baylor into overtime with a solid defensive and offensive performance in the second half. Only a few miscues by the Mountaineers led to Baylor looking as if they were the more veteran team and the Bears of Baylor defeated WVU 94-89 in overtime.

"They made shots when they had to make shots and we didn't, they made free throws when they had to and we didn't and they basically made plays," West Virginia coach Bob Huggins told WVUSports.com. "They're a much more veteran team than we are and we kind of didn't do what we needed to do when we needed to do it."

Miles McBride leads the Mountaineers in scoring with 15.7 points per game and he had 19 Tuesday against Baylor. McBride has also had a season high 29 points in the game against Kansas in early February. Junior Forward Derek Culver has been steady this season averaging a double-double with 14.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. Taz Sherman is the spark off the bench contributing 13.5 points per game, and had a season high 26 points Tuesday against Baylor.

In a Big 12 match-up, 18th-ranked Texas Tech travels to lowly Iowa State for a Thursday night bout in Ames. The Red Raiders are a sneaky team entering March, as they have numerous quality wins in the hotly-contested Big 12, and are looking to pick up what they hope will be an easy one against 2-19 Iowa State. The Cyclones have yet to win a conference game this season, and at 0-16 in Big 12 play overall, would love to win a conference game before season’s end, but it will be a tall task against a tough Texas Tech team.

Red Raiders hoping for a big performance before facing Baylor
Make no bones about it, this is an extremely lopsided game that swings heavily in favor of Texas Tech. They are just seventh in the Big 12 standings, but are also ranked, so they can’t be all that concerned with where they will be seeded headed to the Big 12 Tournament. The Red Raiders are a lock to make the NCAA tournament at 16-8 overall, as they have gone toe to toe with tough teams in the best conference in college basketball all year long. They have an easy matchup with the worst of the Big 12 in Iowa State Thursday night.

Texas Tech will be successful in the contest if they simply just play their game, and not make mistakes. They have a hard-nosed style of play that can compete with just about anyone led by star guard Mac McClung, and they work the ball inside well and also defend like crazy. They are a team who many people are high on this season headed into the tournament, as they are a dark horse contender who can shake things up and truly have a shot at a national title this season.

Cyclones must play through Rasir Bolton to have a chance Thursday
If Iowa State has a chance to pull the upset at 2-19 overall and win their first conference game, it will be through Rasir Bolton, who has been one of the few bright spots for the Cyclones this season. He is their leading man on offense who is going to have to have a big night for the Cyclones who have struggles mightily on offense, and could get stuck in the mud against a tough Red Raider defense if they don’t have a go-to shot-maker to bail them out.
Iowa State’s chances are slim, but never say never, as they are a frustrated and proud basketball tradition who have had a horrendous year by their standards. At 0-16 in conference play, they have been close in numerous games, but have not been able to put it all together and pick up a victory. They will also be looking to snap what is now a 15-game losing streak overall, as they look to hopefully wrap up their season on a high note in their last two games.
