An historic KY Derby as we have the first female trainer WINNER in KY Derby History !!! Cherie DeVaux broke that glass ceiling and has opened the door for more to come in the future.
I lost the race with Further Ado but I must say, I'm so happy to see this finally happening. After the KY Oaks was finally given it's long awaited due to be put into prime time, this was the cherry on the cake.
This was a great couple days for horse racing all around. It is so long overdue and I'm proud to finally see both moments take place.
Now for my F U moment. It goes to Pat Day and his riders up, he thought he was so cool at the end showing his fist with his HOF ring on. I said out loud, Golden Boy how did it feel to lose to Sunday Silence in 1989?
For those that don't know, I followed Sunday Silence career and he was an after thought to Easy Goer in the Derby and the Preakness and I can recall how stunned Day was to lose. He got his due in the Belmont and everyone and their mothers thought it would be the same at the 89 Breeders Cup and Sunday Silence beat him again. I'll never ever forget those moments and my disdain for Day and his excuses for losing was nauseating.
Oddly enough in this race today #10 Wonder Dean is a great grandson to none other than Sunday Silence. He had my sentimental support but not my money.
I hope everyone loved the picks coverage and none of the experts had the winner but one for second and two for fourth.
