Good morning. Since I posted a complaint regarding our community yesterday I decided that I needed to be part of the solution. After all we should start with individual responsibility. (Interesting thought for a liberal democrat.) Freak is the owner of our site but it is our site. With participation and the knowledge of the community we can all have some fun and pick some games. I have no secret knowledge other than years of bad beats and some wonderful backdoor covers. My style is more to pick a lot of games and enjoy the day. With today’s technology we have the ability to watch 80% or more of the games on the board. I am a small player and it is a hobby. I do take some pride in my picks and they are researched through various sources, with that being said follow me over the fold and let’s pick some games.

Michigan State -23.5 over Western Michigan
Last we left Michigan St. they were busy quitting against Penn St. Then they were busy suspending half the team for the bowl game. With this being said they do have a solid offense that can put points on the board. Western Michigan is 0-4 ATS in openers under the current coach. They are also starting a new QB. With FAU on deck for State no reason to hold back. Look for State to run it up to get the bad taste out of there mouth from last years collapse.

Florida -38 over Miami (Ohio). Yes I know Tim Tebow is gone. This is straight class. Could anyone on Miami (Ohio) walk on at Florida? I am not so sure. This is a Dr. Bob game and although I have not seen what side he is on I can’t imagine he would be on the less talented team here. Miami has a game they can win next week. Bottom line, get the paycheck and try not to get injured. My final thought……..speed kills so drive safely.

Georgia -28.5 and ULL. I am passing on this game. I do not expect ULL to be much of a problem but with South Carolina on deck for Georgia it is a possible look ahead game.

Missouri -12 and IL. I am also passing on this game but hold a gun to my head I would have one statement. Ron Zook. Is there a worse coach than Mr. Zook? Well maybe Dave Wandstadt but that is an argument for a different day. The game is in St Louis and Illinois has a poor secondary. Maybe an over play? (53.5) Just thinking out loud.

Colorado -11.5 and Colorado St. I’ll be damned if I can ever figure Colorado out. How doesn’t Dan Hawkins have this program going in the right direction? Colorado St. is using a true freshman at QB. I would certainly lean towards Colorado but I have been burned too many times.

Oregon -35 and New Mexico. Oregon certainly has the talent. Can the coach keep them off the police blotter? No clue here. New Mexico appears to be bad but this is a huge number and who knows which Oregon shows up? I’ll pass.

Texas -31 over Rice. Definitely going to try the Long Horns here. The game is at Reliant Stadium. Texas has killed Rice the last three meetings ATS. I trend I will play again. The talent level at Rice is poor and I do not see Rice being able to hang in against Mack Brown’s boys.

Purdue +10.5 over ND (total 53). I love Purdue here. ND senior class is 16-21 in there history. ND has a new QB and a young offensive line. I like Kelly but it will take some time and oh yeah SOME TALENT. Purdue has a good group of receivers and I think will have more chances to score than ND. As a side note the wind is predicted to blow. I have a hard time seeing this game coming close to the total. Sorry this will not be Cincinnati’s offense just yet.

Connecticut +3 over Michigan. Cheddar Cheese (this is what I call Rich Rodriguez because he always looks like he has to take a dump, try some fiber dude) will be being grilled after this game. If you have not watched CT play Randy Edsall is a great coach and runs a very tight ship. His kids play disciplined and will be able to handle the “Big House”. Michigan still has not announced a starting QB last I have seen. I will try the dog and the better coach.

Kentucky -3 over Louisville. Louisville is going backwards. Charley Strong needs talent before he will bring back the red to prominence. Kentucky promoted from within and should have more talent and be more cohesive especially early in the year. The better bet may be who has more fans at Louisville.

Kansas St. -2 and UCLA. No clue here. I have no feel for either one of these teams. Both offenses suspect maybe an under play at 44.5. Other than that I have nothing here gang.

Clemson-27 and North Texas. On paper a total mismatch. I personally never had much luck with Clemson one way or the other. Clemson has an easy game the following week too so they should be the play if you have to bet it. I will pass.

These are the games through 3:30. I will try to post some more during the day tomorrow. I look forward to your comments one way or the other. If you are gambling you have an opinion. Please share with us so we can learn from you.

Chopperjc, that's a ton a points to give any team. Good teams will still rest there starters when they are up 28 points in the 4th quater. I think starters will rest in the second half and I can get a back door cover.

You are going into a Texas 3-0 ATS against Rice trend covering by an average over 10 points. The Miami (Ohio)game certainly possible we shall see. Good Luck I appreciate the thoughts.

Also curious on UNLV. Not opposed at all to the play just interested in your thoughts.

As I look around, just about everybody I have seen so far is picking Washington. Many as their best bet. I love the other side. Washington on the road(????) against a respectable BYU team. Bet the house on the home team here BYU-1 1/2!!!
