Nowadays all people are really driving crazy when it comes to keep fit, may be that's due to tons of ads with attractive slim young people or some celebrities, but the fact is we are ready for many things to look well. I wanted to ask your tips on keeping fit and share mine. Well, they are are jogging in the morning and swimming at the weekends, in fact that's not tiring at all, as it may seem, plus sometimes I go to the gym, at times when I feel that have gained some weight, I calculate my target heart rate zone with the help of special calculator Heart Rate Zone Calculator | Target Heart Rate Zone Calculator - Beets BLU and solve the problem. And what will be your tips?

It's really simple.
Cut out the snacking, ie chips, cookies, pies, cakes. Cut out the Coca Cola products and others like it.
Walk 10 minutes a day. Drink more water.
Use smaller plates and bowls to have them full so it looks like you have more food.
Eat in moderation. Eat until you are full not until you are stuffed.
I personally have cut out all colas and the heavy snacking. It's tough to do, but I drink more water and use water additives that are sugar free. I drink power aides and if I must have a soda it is Sprite Zero or Fanta Orange Zero which at most is one a week.
Portions are important.
I don't go to the gym, lift weights or swim and have lost 30 pounds by doing what I listed above. It's the best 30 pounds I've ever lost.
One last thing, stay the hell away from fast food places. They are the worst empty calories and high in carbs. They are SUPER BAD for you.
Next time you go to the store, look at the sugar and carb count on your favorite junk item. Then look at the serving size. I guarantee you aren't doing the serving size.
Great example is Arizona Tea Drinks that are in the 23 oz cans.
Serving size for those cans is 3 !!!!! Yet everyone drinks the whole thing by themselves. When you see the sugar and carbs you'll flip out.
Trust me guys, it's not easy, but it's a lot more healthier and you reduce your risk of Diabetes and other issues. If only I had known this earlier in my life. I am paying for it now.

Freak gives great advice here guys and gals
I am a lucky guy as I had a heart attack and then ended up having quintuple bypass surgery 2 and a half years ago. Why lucky? The alternative was death. Had the heart attack (it was minor and I did not even know I had it, it was other symptoms after that made me go to hospital) not got me to the hospital, the next one would have killed me. I had the surgery within a few days of going to the hospital after tests revealed the blockages (100%, 90%, 90% in various areas) and when surgeon called my wife after the surgery, he told her I was lucky I walked into the hospital!
Losing weight and keeping it off is a challenge for sure and I am not a 'work out' type guy either so just have to do other things which help.
Watching what I eat and drink helps for sure as my issue was cholesterol blocking arteries and my diet certainly did not help.
I lost 30 pounds in the first 6 months, obviously was not eating much right after surgery but it helped me prepare. Then I was tracking my calories, nothing fancy, just being aware of what I was eating.
I had cut pop (cola) out previously and fortunately I don't mind water as I drink a lot of liquid. Summer was hard this year as i drank too many beer and got out of the habit of going for walks (which I had for the previous year and a half. All the bad habits are related to getting too tied up in work again (promotion with more responsibilities) made me stray.
Today being Thanksgiving up here in Canada, I had sobering reflection time and realized I was slipping into the bad habits again (gained back 12 pounds). For me, it is the little thing Freak mentioned. Portion sizes, stay away from fast food, and walk. I used to do 30 minute walks 5 days a week. I got lazy, started eating more, ate fast food, and stopped walking and realized I am going in the wrong direction so I know what I have to do.
Great topic and for all of you out there, please heed the good advice. Take care of yourselves so you are here to be with your families for a long time.

You know Poorboy, I remember you telling me about your surgery and I am glad all worked out for you. I mean with the alternative of death you certainly won round 1.
Like you said it's so easy to get back into bad habits and if you don't watch it you get right back into that old rut. When things are going good people tend to just go with the flow and continue on their path. Change truly doesn't happen until something bad happens and puts fear into you. Then things go well again and old habits appear once again.
I go to the store and see items I would love to eat again. Ho Ho's, cup cakes, Coca Cola, cookies, chips and all those things most people love to eat because let's face it, they call it sweets and treats for a reason.
My wife was just diagnosed with Cilliacs (sp?) diseases. Now she has to eat everything gluten free. What a lifestyle change. First me with sugar now her.
Gluten free products are not cheap. Things we take for granted like a loaf of bread. Gluten free is $6 to $7 and it is a very small loaf. Everything gluten free is pretty much triple the price. A box of mac and cheese which you can get for 50 cents is $2 gluten free. It's crazy.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes so my days of eating whatever I want is over. I must admit, I don't miss Coca Cola as bad as I thought I would. On occasion it's now Coke Zero or a Fanta Orange Zero but they are just as bad. No more doughnuts or the things I love. Trust me I love a good piece of chocolate cake and then some.
Now I look at Sugar and Carbs when I buy something.
It's amazing what these items have in the form of sugar and carbs and they wonder why people now a day are as obese as they are and why kids are overweight.
Super Size, 23 oz cans, Extra Large this, that and the other. I never truly realized how bad it really is.
So no more fast food places unless it's a rare Chick Fil A.
Not only do I save the weight but the cost in the wallet.
It's not easy and when you are older, your mentality is a lot different than when you are in your 20's. It's really the 20's and younger that different habits need to form to avoid the health issues that people get at 40+
The funny thing about the poster that posted this really tried to spam the forum with some kind of medical device. But since his linking didn't work I decided to keep it and make something out of it. LOL

At 41, I was 248 now at 43, I'm 214 and have the same muscle but 20% less body fat.
I like any other narcissistic testosterone wielding male at the gym could hoist 110 pound bench press Dumbbells like anyone else. But about a year ago after my weight loss plateu, I found this guy, Craig Capurso, on bodybuilding website. I loved his physique and tried to contact him. After a week he replied and told me to check out his new workout 30 days out on the site which he just released.
I tried it, the hardest 30 days of my life...why?
Changes in eating and a TOTAL workout change. Out of my comfort zone I went, and by day 6, I was ready to quit, but I impressed myself and stuck it out the whole way through. Before and after photos were good, but had I really followed the eating plan, I could have really shredded quicker.
Since then I change my workout everyday as my body has the ability to adapt way too quick to everything, so I have to keep it guessing.
I now train 37 people, 15 guys and 22 women all from 18-66. I'm certified and love helping and giving advice to anyone that requests it. I like Craig, always try and give back now. He taught me a lot and I owe it all to him.
In closing, I feel this is my wheelhouse guys and gals for the average full time working 'no time for anything' working out person. So if anyone would like some help feel free to ask on this thred I guess.
Most importantly believe in yourself and trust the process. I read all the stories on this thread and stay strong everyone. One day at a time.
Best of luck to you all, Makincash
