The Memphis Tigers and South Florida Bulls get set to face off in an American Athletic Conference clash Tuesday evening although both are coming into the game in opposite directions. Memphis is coming off a win against conference opponent Cincinnati who they beat on Sunday afternoon, 80-74, and covering the -3 spread. South Florida got obliterated by Houston on Sunday to the tune of 98-52 in a game where getting 18.5 points still wasn’t nearly enough to cover.

Memphis is Hot
Memphis is playing great basketball at the right time, winning five in a row and giving themselves a chance to possibly get the #1 seed in the AAE Tournament starting on March 10th in Frisco, Texas. This is a team that has also won eight of their last 10 games, including a victory over Wichita St., currently in first place in AAC. More impressive still is the fact that the Tigers have gone 8-1 ATS over their last nine games, but that win over Cincy was big. Even head coach Penny Hardaway made note of its significance, telling the Daily Memphian that, “it’s my first win here as a coach.”
Without Alex Lomax who was out with an injury and is doubtful for Tuesday’s game as well, guard Boogie Ellis took over as leading scorer by putting up 17 points and 7 rebounds in a game where the Tigers had five players in double figures. Forward Landers Nolley II had a double double with 10 points and ten assists while center Moussa Cisse added 11 points and 7 boards. Memphis has a fantastic defense, holding opponents to an average of 62.6 points a game, 19th best in the country. One of their defensive strengths is making it hard for teams to shoot as they hold opposing teams to a 38.8% from the floor, 6th best in college basketball.

South Florida Skidding to the End
Losers of two straight, South Florida is 8-10 on the season overall, but only 4-8 in the conference. Their overall record is even a bit deceiving as they have played very poor ball lately, losing five of their last six. Against Houston, they were never even close, getting blown out by 46 points in a game that featured 15 South Florida turnovers. Although they are out of the AAC Tournament, they will still try to end their season on a positive note starting with this game.
In that game against Houston, only two of the Bulls players scored in double figures as Xavier Castaneda put up 11 and Caleb Murphy provided another 10. On the season, David Collins’ 12.4 points per game represents the only player for South Florida that averages double figures. This is a team that has lost five of six ATS lately and only averages 66.2 points a contest. They’ve only averaged 44.5 points over their last two games and shot 34/104 from the floor (33%).

Two Big East teams will face off against each other on Tuesday as the Marquette Golden Eagles travel to Wintrust Arena to take on the DePaul Blue Demons. Marquette enters this game with an 11-13 record after losing to Connecticut on the road by 18 points in its last game while DePaul enters this game with a 4-12 record after losing to Georgetown at home by eight points in its last game. This game will start at 9:00 P.M. EST.

Marquette Looks To Forget About Its Last Game
The Marquette Golden Eagles enter this game in decent form as they have won two of their last three games. However, Marquette does enter this game on a bit of a low note after losing to Connecticut on the road by 18 points in its last game. In that game, Marquette's defense struggled as it allowed 80 points while letting the opposition shoot 51.6% from the floor. Now, Marquette will be looking to forget about that performance with another conference road game up next. However, that loss was somewhat expected considering the fact that the Golden Eagles have a losing record on the road this season so another lackluster performance on Tuesday is definitely a possibility
Leading the Golden Eagles offensively is freshman forward Dawson Garcia who is averaging a team-high 13.3 points per game along with a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. In addition, he is shooting 37.5% from the three-point line as he has been able to stretch defenses out.

Following the loss to Connecticut, Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski discussed what the mindset is for his team moving forward.

"We're going to prepare to win, and we're looking for guys that will compete and try to win the game. We have opportunities ahead of us. We need to put our best foot forward and try to capitalize on them."

DePaul Looks For A Rare Home Win
The DePaul Blue Demons have continued to look like a terrible basketball team as they have lost seven of their last eight games including an eight-point home loss against the Georgetown Hoyas in their last game. In that game, DePaul's offense was underwhelming as it only scored 60 points while shooting just 38.6% from the floor. However, that lackluster performance was somewhat expected since the Blue Demons have lost seven of their first nine home games. Now, DePaul will be looking for a rare home victory with another conference game up next.
Leading the Blue Demons offensively is senior guard Charlie Moore who is averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game along with a team-high 4.3 assists per game. However, he is also averaging a team-high 3.4 turnovers per game as he has struggled with his ball security up to this point.

Following the loss to Georgetown, DePaul guard Charlie Moore criticized his team for its underwhelming defensive effort.

"The effort wasn't there today. We didn't have the best defensive effort in order to stop them from scoring."

The Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers are both having eerily similar seasons and are both coming off tough defeats in their recent games. The Sabres and Rangers came into the season with high hopes but have been two of the worst teams in the East Division and NHL thus far. The Rangers are hoping to cap off the 3 game homestand with a win and to finish 2-1 in the stretch as they will begin a tough road trip later this week.

Sabres offense is a mess
The Buffalo Sabres signed Taylor Hall this offseason to give the team a jolt offensively and pair up with the young rising star Jack Eichel on the top line. That has been anything but the case for the Sabres this season as Taylor Hall and Jack Eichel have combined for just 3 goals this season as part of a struggling offense that is scoring 2.2 goals per game. With the Sabres currently in the last place in the East Division, there have been rumors about the team trading some of their stars for draft picks if things don't start to turn around.
The defense has been playing surprisingly well this season to keep the games close, allowing only 2.9 goals per game. Jake McCabe and Rasmus Ristolainen have been a great top pairing, combining for 2 defensive point shares and 29 blocked shots while Brandon Montour and Colin Miller have combined for 42 blocked shots on the season. The Sabres will have to find a replacement for Linus Ulmark who only allowed 2.4 goals per game but will miss the upcoming month to a lower-body injury.

Rangers are struggling offensively
The Rangers were already having trouble finding offense this season only to find out that things can and did get worse. Their star scorer, Artemi Panarin, took a leave of absence last week after a fallout involving him in his home country of Russia. As he dealt with the issues, the Rangers had to search for scoring in a lineup that is only scoring 2.5 goals per game. Chris Kreider and Ryan Strome are playing well with 15 combined goals on the season but the rest of the offense is struggling.

The defense on the other hand is playing incredibly this season and keeping the Rangers competitive this season. Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren have combined for 2.8 defensive point shares and 65 blocked shots this season while K'Andre Miller is adding 1.1 defensive point shares as well. In addition, the goaltending duo of Alexandar Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin has helped keep the puck out of the net with the duo allowing only 2.5 goals per game.

Pittsburgh lost its last outing, a 2-0 result against the Islanders on February 28. Bettors who backed the Islanders at -109 on the moneyline won on the day, and the total score (2) sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.

In an East Division matchup, the Philadelphia Flyers will go on the road and take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers have an 11-4-3 record. The Penguins are 11-8-1 on the season. These two teams have faced each other twice this season with the Flyers winning both games.

Flyers on Three Game Winning Streak
The Flyers are on a three game winning streak. Their last game was a 3-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday. James Van Riemsdyk and Joel Farabee each had two points in the game. Carter Hart was perfect in net, stopping all 28 shots faced.

Offense has been a strength for the Flyers. Although they rank dead last in shots per game, they rank sixth in goals per game, first in shooting %, and seventh in scoring efficiency ratio. Philly has been very efficient on offense this season. They have scored three goals or more in eight of their last 10 games. James Van Riemsdyk has been on fire lately, having at least one point in nine of his last 10 games. Van Riemsdyk has 25 points on the season. He is tied for seventh in points in the NHL.

Although the Flyers are coming off back to back shutout wins against the Sabres, defense and goaltending remain inconsistent. They have given up three goals or more in six of their last nine games. The team ranks 16th in goals against per game, 27th in shots against per game, and last in shot differential per game. Brian Elliott has been much better between the pipes than Carter Hart. Elliott has a record of 5-1-0 with a 2.03 GAA and a .931 SV%, where Hart has a record of 6-3-3 with a 3.35 GAA and a .899 SV%.

Penguins Coming off Loss
The Penguins lost their last game 2-0 against the New York Islanders on Sunday. Casey DeSmith was sharp in the loss, stopping 28 out of 30 shots faced. It was not good enough however, as the Pens could not score a goal in the game.
Even though they were shutout in their last game, offense has been trending in the right direction for the Penguins recently. They have scored three goals or more in seven out of their last 10 games. The team ranks 18th in goals per game, 23rd in shots per game, 14th in shooting %, and 21st in scoring efficiency ratio. Sidney Crosby leads the team with 18 points in 20 games played.

Although Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith have played better in recent games, goaltending has been a problem all season for the Penguins. They have given up three goals or more in six of their last 10 games. Jarry is 7-6-1 with a 3.14 GAA and a .894 SV %. Casey DeSmith is 4-2-0 with a 2.73 GAA and a .893 SV %. The team ranks 26th in goals against per game, ninth in shots against per game, and 29th in opponent shooting % and save %. Defense has been playing well for the Pens as they are not giving up many shots per game. However, goaltending remains shaky.

The Red Wings and Blue Jackets are both coming off tough losses and while the Red Wings were expected to be one of the worst teams this season, the Blue Jackets have been one of the bigger disappointments this season, winning only 8 of their first 23 games. For both teams, the losses at this point in the season can start to pile up and if neither team is able to turn their seasons around soon, they might have to start trading away key pieces at the trade deadline.

Detroit isn't scoring this season
To say the Red Wings offense is bad would be an understatement. The offense scores 2.1 goals per game and has truly only found three goal scorers this season in Bobby Ryan, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Anthony Mantha. With Tyler Bertuzzi being placed on injured reserve, the Red Wings now only have the 6 goals from Ryan and the 5 goals from Mantha and 4 skaters with 4 goals each to show for their scoring lineup.

The defense hasn't fared much better this season, allowing 3.5 goals per game. Jonathon Merrill and Patrik Nemeth have played well, combining for 2 defensive point shares and 56 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggles. In addition, the goaltending duo of Jonathan Bernier and Thomas Greiss has played poorly with Greiss allowing 3.4 goals per game including 7 goals in the recent defeat to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Blue Jackets goaltending is costing them
The Columbus Blue Jackets have lost their last 5 games and 7 of their last 8, pushing them out of playoff position and putting their season in jeopardy. Elvis Merzlikins was playing well as the starting goaltender for the Blue Jackets but after going down to injury the team has struggled with Joonas Korpisalo allowing 3.2 goals per game.

The defense has done its best to keep the Blue Jackets from falling behind in games often as the top pairing of Michael Del Zotto and Vladislav Gavrikov are leading the way. The duo has combined for 2.2 defensive point shares and 53 blocked shots while star defensemen like Seth Jones have struggled this year. The scoring meanwhile has been led by Can Atkinson, who has 9 goals on the season thus far while the trio of Patrick Laine, Boone Jenner, and Oliver Bjorkstrand has scored 6 goals each on the season thus far.

The Ottawa Senators will take on the Montreal Canadiens in a North Division battle.na scored Montreal’s lone goal. Jake Allen stopped 19 out of 21 shots faced.

Montreal’s offense has been trending in the wrong direction lately. They have scored two goals or less in seven of their last 10 games. Although they are struggling on offense recently, the Habs still rank seventh in goals per game, 12th in scoring efficiency ratio, second in shots per game, and 16th in shooting percent. Tyler Toffoli is tied for third in goals in the NHL.

Goaltending and defense have been poor recently. They have given up three goals or more in seven of their last 10 games. The Habs rank 16th in goals against per game, ninth in shots against per game, third in shot differential per game, and 20th in opponent shooting % and save %. Carey Price is 5-4-3 with a 3.13 GAA and a .888 SV% and Jake Allen is 4-2-2 with a 2.12 GAA and a .929 SV%. Allen should start seeing more starts than Price.
