American League
East: Yanks have best chance to win up 1.5 games over Boston. Pedro is out til at least August and unsure how many starts it takes to get into form. Yanks will look for offense help; will wait to see when Justice will be back, but will look for a power hitting right handed bat mostly likely an outfielder. Boston needs to look for another starter to help with Pedro's absence and help make chase of Yanks
Central: Minnesota has had all season to falter but haven't, were Cleveland has continued to stumble. Minnesota needs more power in the line-up but hate to raise payroll too much, also could use another arm. Cleveland needs starting pitching to keep pace with Minnesota; or they need their current pitchers to wake up.
West: Seattle will rest players in the second half too make sure they are fresh for the playoffs; could use another rh bat, either an outfielder or 3B. Oakland will make a charge at wildcard if starters keep performing but they will not add to their team more likely they will subtract.
AL Outocome: Yanks win East, Minn wins Central, Seattle wins west. Clev,Boston,Oakland fight for wildcard with Cleveland getting in. Seattle beats Cleveland; Minnesota shocks the Yanks. Seattle beats the Twins(who are still celebrating the Yanks win)
National League:
East: Atlanta is the cream of the crop, but the loss of Furcal will hurt greatly. They will pursue a bat to help the team score runs, will look for leadoff type unsure who might be out there. Philly was fading but Furcal injury should help them stay in the race. They could use another starting pitcher to help eat up innings and help bullpen, they need offense to start producing especially Rolen. Florida is a year away from making noise; too many holes in the line-up to look for help.
Central: cubs lead but Houston is charging. Cubs need more power, but as of now they want to play little ball with speed, who nows maybe this is best for them. Their pitchers seemed to be set and I am unsure what they would want or need. Houston will be breathing heat all year, just because of their offense, if the young pitchers keep pitching good they have best chance of winning division, they should look for another quality starter one with experience to help young staff. St Louis needs Mac to get on track and Drew to come back and play like he was before; if this happens they will look for a big name starter.
West: Arizona will be near the top all season becasue of Johnson and Schilling. They need more offense help, Luis can not carry a team all year. They also could use another starter, Bullpen is young but unsure who out there would be that much of a upgrade. LA needs to get healthy; if Brown and Beltre can get there they will be chasing all year. Need help is middle relief to hold on to the lead. San Fran needs pitching that can get past 5-6 innings they have started to tire the bullpen. If bullpen can stay fresh they are one of best out there.
NL Outcome:
East: Atlanta holds off Philly with starting pitching, Central: Houston out slugs Cubs for divison, West will be close but LA sneeks past the Diamondbacks. Wildcard race will be one of the best ever with Arizona, Chicago, Philly and St Louis fighting it out. Arizona will beat the Cubs in a playoff with a 2 hit shut out by Johnson.
Houston will play Arizona, the loss of a game from Johnson (had to pitch to the Cubs) Houston wins. LA will host Atlanta; Brown and Park pitch great and win series in five. LA then goes to Houston with Brown pitching game 5 vs Atlanta only helps Houston. Houston is feeling great but losses game 1 to Park, Brown pitches game 3 and game 7 to win the Series and will face Seattle.
World Series: Seattle took care of Minnesota fairly easily so they are fresh; Brown and company are tired from playing the max in both series. Seattle ends the year as champs.
