Toledo has clinched the MAC title due to win percentage, but they won't take this game lightly as Ball State has been a thorn in the side of many teams in this conference. In fact, this very Ball State team defeated Toledo at home by 14 earlier this season as nine-point underdogs. Toledo recently fell to a subpar Central Michigan team, so the Rockets will want to get back on track before the tournament starts.

Finishing Strong
Ball State has won three-straight games and they'd love to make it a fourth. The Cardinals' offense is buzzing right now. Over this three-game stretch, they are averaging 96 points per game which is well over their 74.3 average on the season. A lot of this can be attributed to the return of KJ Walton. He returned from injury five games ago and he just scored 32 points in their win over Eastern Michigan.
Ball State has the 147th ranked offense on KenPom. They are 89th in field goal percentage, 109th in three-point percentage, 108th in two-point percentage, and 66th in free-throw percentage. On defense, this is the 150th ranked unit. They are 110th in field goal percentage, 32nd in three-point defense, and 187th in two-point defense.

KJ Walton leads the Cardinals with 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. Ishmael El-Amin contributed 16 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Jarron Coleman adds 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

Ending the Season on a High Note
It will be important for the Rockets to end their season with a win after their disappointing loss to a struggling Central Michigans team. Toledo has one of the most electric offenses in the country and they only lost four conference games all season. Toledo also lost two of its non-conference games by a combined five points, so they could easily be 21-5.
The Rockets come in with the 13th ranked offense on KenPom. They are 36th in field goal percentage, 22nd in ball control, 17th in three-point percentage, 94th in two-point percentage, and 11th in free-throw percentage. On the defensive end, they've struggled a bit as they are ranked 154th. They are 89th in field goal percentage, 19th in free-throw attempts allowed and 15th in three-point defense.

Marreon Jackson leads the Rockets with 17.4 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Spencer Littleson contributes 13.8 points on 49% three-point shooting and Ryan Rollins adds 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.

In a season finale matchup between two MAC bottom dwellers, Eastern Michigan travels to Kalamazoo to take on the Broncos. The Eagles are 5-12 on the season, and 2-11 in conference play, and look to close their season out with a win against what is an even matchup with Western Michigan. The Broncos are 5-15 on the year, and are 4-11 in conference play headed into their season finale and senior night at home. While this is an even matchup, it does not have any postseason implications, as it is between two teams who have struggled this year.

Eagles won big on their senior night, but were blown out the following game against Ball State
Wins have been very hard to come by this season for Eastern Michigan, but they were able to find a jolt and take care of Northern Illinois at home, in what was a blowout victory over the Huskies that not many could have seen coming. The following game however, they were embarrassed on the road at Ball State 100-65, so the momentum with the win on Senior Night was quickly ousted. They now look to close out their season on the road, in what will be a very even matchup against Western Michigan, who has been just as bad this season.

Looking back on the game before last in which the Eagles hung 91 points on Northern Illinois, it was hot shooting that earned them the big victory. They were able to shoot over 50% from the field and went 12-21 as a team from three-point range, and so it was definitely their night back on February 27th. Noah Morgan and Yeikson Montero each scored over 20, and two other players finished in double figures to give them an emotional win on their senior night, and they hope that in the final game of the season, they can find some of that shooting magic once again in Kalamoazoo.

Broncos looking for their second win in a row to close out a rough season
Like their opponents, Western Michigan was also able to victimize Northern Illinois, defeating them in their last contest by a ten-point margin. It was not a complete beat down like what Eastern Illinois gave them, but it was a complete game in which their defense shined. They now look for their sixth win up against the Eagles, who are also looking for their sixth victory, as these two teams’ seasons have followed similar trajectory.
Friday night will be the Broncos’ Senior Night, as they will try and put together a great game at home, as they don’t appear to have a shot of playing any further. They can defeat their in-state rivals if they defend the perimeter, and not let Eastern Michigan’s very competent guards get open looks. They do not present much of an inside threat whatsoever on either end, and so this will be a game that the majority of it will be a battle in the backcourt.

The Cal Irvine Anteaters will be on the road as they take on the Long Beach State Beach in a Friday night Big West Conference battle. The Anteaters are 14-8 this season as they have rose to the number two spot in the conference. The Beach has lost two games straight as they have earned a record of 5-9 this year. Cal Irvine has won two games in a roll while also winning four of their last five contest, this will be a huge testament for the Beach and a good opportunity to knock off Cal Irvine.

The Anteaters are 11-9 ATS while they have played in their share of close games this season they have split the over/under at 10-10. The Beach has post a .500 record ATS this season as they are 7-7, they have the ability to put up huge points which has led to them hitting the over in 9 of 14 games.

Anteaters Heating Up
The Cal Irvine Anteaters have been on fire as of late as they have won 4 of their last 5 games. The defense has been locked as they have only allowed 64.3 points and if they could get this offense going they could be a real threat. The offense is only scoring 64.3 points per game while shooting the ball at 47.6%. They are only hitting 4.8 three pointers per game but are a very good free throw shooting team at 75%. The Anteaters will need their defense to step up as their opponent in this one is lights out on the offensive end. They cannot go into this one and just expect to play a scoring game as they will very quickly realize how good the Beach is at hitting their shots.
The Anteaters are getting the majority of their offense from Forward Collin Welp who is producing 14.9 points and 7.7 rebounds. Welp has been huge for the Anteaters as they struggle on the offensive end and even though their defense is really good they will need him to step up on the offensive end against the Beach to pull this one off. If the Anteaters want to win this one they will need Welp to make his presence known early and pull away, if they allow the Beach to hang around they could leave with another loss on the season.

Getting Back On Track
The Long Beach State Beach has lost their last two games as they have only won 5 games this season. They have shown the ability to put up big time points with 73.6 points per game but have been giving up 80.6. It seems that everything the Beach does well this season they allow their opponents to do even better. The Beach is shooting the ball at 51.2% but allowing opposing teams to hit 51.1% of their shots. Along with that they love the three ball as they are hitting it at 36.3% but allowing opponents to hit from deep at 36.3% and 9.2 three's to go along with the high percentage. The Beach does a great job at getting to the free throw line with 24.1 free throw attempts per game but once again they allow opposing teams to shoot 23.0 attempts.
The Beach is getting most of their offense from Guard Isaiah Washington who is putting up 15.0 points,4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. Washington has been a huge part of this teams success on the offensive end but he is averaging 3.4 turnovers this game and has had over 5 turnovers in multiple occasions this year with the highest being 8. Turnovers lead to fast break points on the other end which allow teams to put up points in a hurry, if the Beach could limit the turnovers they could cut into the 80.6 points they are allowing in each contest.

It’s a Big West Conference clash as the visiting UC Riverside Highlanders take on the Cal-State Northridge Matadors at the Matadome Friday night. These two teams will end the season playing each other the last two games, with this game being the first match-up between the two this season. The Highlanders recently beat the conference’s first place team, UCSB, by the score of 68-52, snapping UCSB’S 13 game winning streak. Northridge is coming off a 90-87 victory over Cal State Bakersfield. In the most recent match-up between these two teams, Northridge wound up beating Riverside, 61-59 on February 20th, 2020.

Riverside Making the Best of it
Just as so many other teams were affected by the pandemic, so was Riverside, which only managed to play 18 games all year due to postponements and cancelations. They have gone 11-7 overall, and 6-4 in the ten games they’ve played against the Big West. Over their last ten games, Riverside has gone 6-4, but that big win in their last game against UCSB helped move Riverside into a third place tie in the conference. That bodes well for their confidence with the Big West Tournament on the horizon starting March 9th in Las Vegas.
Zyon Pullin is Riverside’s second leading scorer but he outdid himself in that UCSB victory, dropping 21 points and scoring seven points in the first nine minutes. On the year, he averages 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, doing a little bit of everything. Riverside’s leading scorer is Arinze Chidom, averaging 14.7 points a contest, but may not be available for this game after leaving the last game early with a leg injury. Riverside has a tough defense, holding opponents to 63.2 points a game and only 39.7% shooting.

Northridge Still Has TJ Starks
Unfortunately for Northridge, they are currently seventh in the Big West, however the bright side is that all ten teams in the conference get to play in the conference tournament so the Matadors still have something to play for. Lately, they have traded wins for losses over their last four games, splitting each of their two-game series against Hawaii and Bakersfield. On the year, Northridge has gone 9-10 overall and 5-7 in the conference, but have won three of their last four games ATS
The Matadors’ offense starts and stops with TJ Starks, who is coming off a 25-point performance against Bakersfield in a game in which he shot 11 of 12 from the charity stripe. On the year, Starks is averaging 21.6 points per contest and shoots a solid 40% from behind the arc. Forward Lance Coleman II is Northridge’s second leading scorer at 13.9 points a game and guard Darius Brown II chips in with another 10.8 points. Northridge is coming off a game where they put up 90 points and scored 88 points (albeit in overtime) against Hawaii on February 20th.

The UC Davis Aggies end their regular season with a two-game homestand against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, beginning with the first of those games on Friday night in a Big West conference matchup.

Hawaii return to 0.500 in conference play
Season form
The Rainbow Warriors have won three of their last four games to improve to 10-8 for the season and 8-8 in conference play. In their previous game, they beat Long Beach State 79-76 in the second of a back-to-back set.

According to AP, Justin Webster had 14 points and eight rebounds for Hawaii (10-8, 8-8 Big West Conference). Junior Madut added 13 points and six rebounds. Casdon Jardine had 10 points.

The Rainbow Warriors have been solid on both ends of the court: they have scored an average of 72.9 points per game, which puts them 162nd in the country. Defensively, they have allowed 69.3 points a game.

Aggies run away with five-game winning streak
Season form
The Aggies have gone on a good run of form, which includes five straight wins. Prior to that, they had lost three games. The Aggies are now 8-6 for the season after beating Cal Poly Mustangs 68-66 in overtime in the previous game.

As reported by AP: Elijah Pepper had 17 points and six rebounds for UC Davis (8-6, 6-4 Big West Conference), which won its fifth consecutive game. Damion Squire added 13 points. Kennedy Koehler had nine rebounds. The Aggies forced a season-high 24 turnovers.

The Aggies have scored an average of 75.2 points per game, 96th in the country. They have relied on their offense in a big way. They have allowed 73.6 points per game, which hasn't helped them much.

The Charlotte 49ers will travel to the Cam Henderson Center on Friday night to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Conference USA East Division matchup. These will be the final two games of the regular season for each program. The 49ers are fifth in the Conference USA East Division with a 9-13 record and a 5-9 conference record. They are riding a six-game losing streak after dropping a road game on Sunday to the UTEP Miners 77-62. The Thundering Herd are third in the Conference USA East Division with a 13-6 record and a 7-5 conference record. They are coming off a 73-72 win on Saturday over the North Texas Mean Green.

There is a bit of separation between these two programs throughout the season and it will be interesting to see how they face off after almost a week between games. Let’s take a deeper dive into the matchup to decide where we should be placing our wagers.

Forever Young
The Charlotte 49ers have depended on sophomore guard Jahmir Young to control the offensive production this year. He is averaging 18.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 0.9 steals in 37.7 minutes per game. He’s shooting incredibly well as he is 44 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.7 percent from the free-throw line. In his last game against the Miners, Young played 32 minutes and finished with 12 points, a rebound, two assists, and a block. If he can figure out how to perform a little better, this will be a nice game for him.
The Charlotte 49ers have been good on defense this season as they are giving up 65.7 points per game. In their last game against the UTEP Miners, they allowed 77 points on 32-of-63 (50.8 percent) from the floor, 10-of-20 (50 percent) from the three-point line, and just four free-throws. If they want to continue improving defensively, they need to figure out how to limit teams shooting from the floor.

Guard Up
The Marshall Thundering Herd have depended on junior guard Taevion Kinsey to control the offensive production this year. He is averaging 19.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 0.7 steals in 37.4 minutes per game. He’s shooting incredibly well as he is 55.8 percent from the field, 45.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.9 percent from the charity stripe. In his last game against the Mean Green, Kinsey played 38 minutes and finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and four turnovers. If he can figure out how to perform a little better with less sloppy play, this will be a nice game for him.

Back at it tomorrow evening in The Cam for our final home series of the season!

The Marshall Thundering Herd have been shaky on defense this season as they are giving up 73.2 points per game. In their last game against the North Texas Mean Green, they allowed 72 points on 26-of-57 (45.6 percent) from the floor, 14-of-29 (48.3 percent) from the three-point line, and just seven free-throws. If they want to continue improving defensively, they need to figure out how to limit teams shooting from the floor.
