The Cincinnati Reds have re-signed infielder Rich Aurilia to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2007.
The Reds had offered Aurilia arbitration in December, but he rejected the proposal, and midnight Sunday was the deadline for him to re-sign with the team. If he didn't, Aurilia could not have played for the Reds until May 1.
The 34-year-old Aurilia batted .282 with 14 homers and 68 RBI in 114 games for Cincinnati last season. He topped the team in hitting with runners in scoring position with a .343 mark.
The Boston Red Sox announced that first baseman J.T. Snow has signed a one-year contract on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The left-handed hitter batted .275 with four home runs and 40 RBI in 117 games last season for the San Francisco Giants.
Snow, who will be 38 years old in February, is a career .268 hitter with 189 homers and 873 RBI in 14 seasons with the New York Yankees, Angels and the Giants.
He helped San Francisco get to four postseasons in nine campaigns, including the 2002 World Series, which he hit .407 with a double, home run and four RBI.
Snow won six consecutive Gold Gloves (1995-2000) and is one of only 10 players to win the award in each league, along with being one of only six players to win multiple times in each circuit.
