Brisnet.com is giving away free past performances for the feature race at Mountaineer Park in West Virginia. I'm not sure if you have to sign up to get these but it is free and easy if you do.

Mountaineer has become my favorite track for simulcast betting. They have several evenly matched races every night and you can get some horses with a good shot at winning at a decent price. I stopped by the place about 3 weeks ago on my way home from a vacation in Pennsylvania and was impressed with the track and the competition(although the crowd was rather sparse that night. By the last race, I think we were the only ones outside watching the race). Anyway here is the link to the free past performances including the pace figures, class and prime power ratings plus the track bias analysis. (They are in PDF format so adobe acrobat reader is required.)

I'm going to take the #3 horse Slews Resurrection. Even though the track bias report suggests early speed wins the majority of these type of races, It looks like "Slew's" will remain within 3 lenghts of the leaders here and outrun everyone down the stretch for the win.

That one was a winner. Surprise the race went exactly as I thought it would. I had $5 to win and place and it paid 9.80 and 4.20. So I got back $35 for my $10. I grin when I win. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

I'll see if I can do it again tomorrow. Mountaineer has year round racing with Wednesday and Thursdays off.

These last couple of days have been too tough to call for me. Tonight we have a horse that looks like an easy winner on paper but forget about getting any kind of a price on it. The #8 horse "So Much More" has superior early pace and speed figures along with the highest class of any of the others. There have been 78 races at this distance so far at the meet and 24% being wire to wire wins.

The race is 12 fillys and mares going a mile and a sixteenth in the 6th running of the Autumn Leaves stakes race with a purse of $75,000.

The only negatives I can see for the #8 horse are (1)-She is shipping in for the race and has never ran on this track so she might not like the footing or the surroundings. (2)-She could get caught in an early pace battle with one other mare, possibly the #4 horse "Forty Marinesca". If the #4 and #8 horses get caught in an early speed duel I think the #8 horse will wear down the #4 in the stretch but it would open things up for the deep closers like #11 "Night of Delight".

I think the highly likely scenario however will be the #8 horse running lose on the lead and hanging on for the win with everyone else competing for 2nd place. Take the #8 So Much More to win. Anyone who would like to try a medium-sized longshot I would suggest the #4 or #11.

Let me know if you are reading this or find it interesting.
