What do you guys think of this prop bet:
Will a #14, 15, or 16 seed win a game?
NO +180
Sounds good right?
No #16 seed has ever defeated a #1 seed since the field was expanded to 64 teams in 1985, and only four #15 seeds (Richmond in 1991, Santa Clara in 1993 , Coppin State in 1997, and Hampton in 2001) have defeated #2 seeds.
So I am going to count the 4 #1 seeds as automatic wins (since we are gambling here) and do the math on the rest.
I didnt dig up the history on #14 seeds but for this years tournament I ran the money lines for this book for the 4 #14 seeds on a parlay calculator:
Gonzaga -260 Florida -420 Iowa -330 North Carolina -900 ------------------------- 4 team parlay pays +148
For the #15 seeds UCLA does not have a money line so I will make them an automatic win. That leaves a 7 team money line parlay:
(3)Gonzaga -260 (3)Florida -420 (3)Iowa -330 (3)North Carolina -900 (2)Tennessee -280 (2)Ohio St -700 (2)Texas -1400 -------------------------- 7 team parlay pays +312
Wow I get better than 3 to 1 this way vs +180 just by jumping on prop that sounds good! And if I actually had money lines on the 5 "automatic winners" the payoff would be even higher!

I think that one reason why people dont post often is that when they do take the time to write up a well thought out post they get some illiterate s.o.b. burying their post into the archives.

I'd have to say that no 14-16 seed will win a first round game.
I did play a #12 to beat a #5
Kent State over Pittsburgh

Desparation 3 pointer from the corner with 0.5 seconds left with a man in his face following a missed free throw. The Northwestern St. Demons blew up my 7 teamer. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

wow suami, I figured that had to nail someone. Tough one. But not too surprising "its madness"
Besides, Dan Patrick of espnradio has been patting himself on the back for giving out NWS as his underdog in round 1.
Good Luck rest of way.
