--------------------------------------------------------------------------------<BR>best best (1-1)<BR>strong plays (0-0)<BR>regular plays (1-1)<BR>opinions (2-0)<BR>overall plays (4-2)<BR>temple -17 over navy (strong play).....never thought in my life i would be taking temple as this big of a favorite. temple went to navy last year and won by 11, now they get them at home and have nearly their entire team back from last year. navy lost their qb and 6 starters on offense. navy might not even score in this game, if they do it won't be more than 10. temple should score at least 28 on this navy defense. i smell a blowout!! temple wins 37-7.<P>arkansas -5 over unlv (strong play).....i have read things about this game for the past two weeks. just about everybody is acting like unlv should be favored int this game, i don't think so. arkansas has a great defense, and great record at home and are playing with revenge. all of this ads up to at least at 7 points arkansas win.<P>Buffalo +15 over rutgers (regular play).....buffalo, even though they suck, was 5-0 ats last year at home. i know rutgers beat them last year badly, but that was at rutgers. i would never take a team like rutgers as a 2 td + favorite on the road. on top of all that, i read today where rutgers starting qb quit the team. rutgers will win the game, but they will struggle. rutgers by 7-10 points.<P>s florida +17.5 over n illinois (regular play).....this line opened at 21 and dropped to what it is now. i agree with this line movement. n illinois is not three touchdowns better than s florida. i just feel like this game will be alot closer than people think.<P>m tennessee st +17.5 over vanderbilt (opinion).....the only thing vandy has going for them over m tenn st is the home field, should be a tight game.<P>toledo -5.5 over minnesota (opinion)...remember last year when toledo went into happy valley and beat penn st? now they are at home vs a lesser team. this line tells you what is going to happen. doesn't it even sound funny...toledo favored over minnesota???? the books want you to take minnesota. rockets win 34-20.<P>

will update record sometime friday for thursdays picks.....updating record......<P>best bets (1-1)<BR>strong plays (1-1)<BR>regular plays (2-2)<BR>opinions (4-0)<P>overall record (8-4)<P>penn state +14.5 over miami-florida (best bet)....first thing i would like to say is that i hate penn state and joe paterno with a passion, but i have to take them in this game. penn st is a very tough place to win, let alone win there by more than two touchdowns. paterno when given plenty of time to prepare is one of the best coaches around. after last years dissappointing season they have had all summer to think about this game. he will find a way to keep this close. i know miami has a great team, but other powerhouse teams (nebraska, oklahoma) have struggled early this year vs lesser teams than penn state. penn state does not have any national championship expectations this year, so all the pressure is on miami in this one. hurricanes will be glad to just escape with a win here. miami by 3-10 points.<P>alabama -3 over ucla (best bet).....i have got a good feeling about alabama this year. bama has always had the talent, but the team has suffered, and i mean suffered, from poor coaching. new coach dennis franchione has a way of getting the most out of his players. you are going to see a fired up alabama team win this one going away. ucla has never impressed me. bama wins 34-20.<P>colorado -4 over colorado state (strong play).....even though colorado lost to fresno state, i like them here. i don't think colorado state is half the team that fresno state is this year. the buffs cannot and will not start the season 0-2. with a game under their belt and the home field advantage, looks for colorado to win by at least a td.<P>san jose state +17.5 over usc (strong play).....usc always plays below what they are capable of playing. they have a way of playing to the level of their compitition. maybe it is just my imagination, but san jose state always seems to play well vs those pac ten teams. i think they score enough to cover this large spread.<P>ball state +26 over auburn (regular play)......ball state has 17 players, including their qb returning. auburn has no qb and only 11 starters back. auburn usually struggles vs lesser oppenents early in the year, even when they are loaded with talent. i think they lost too much to be giving 26 points to a team with that many starters back. tigers by 21 points.<P>maryland +2 over north carolina (regular play).....i am taking this because it seems 95% of what i have read so far is all on n carolina. i guess they made a pretty good impression last week. i am not falling for that. if they were that much better, this line would be 7 or more. give me maryland.<P>opinions...........<P>nevada +28 over byu.....byu looks too good last week, who wouldn't take them. i am going the other way.<P>tulane +21 over lsu.....shoot-out. something like 48-41.<P>marshall +30 over florida....anytime you can get a quality team like marshall and over 4 touchdowns, you have to take it.<p>[color:"#800080" SIZE="1" FACE="Verdana, Arial"][Edited 1 time by jillmark on 08-31-2001 at 05:24 AM]</font>

best bets (1-3)<BR>strong plays (3-1)<BR>regular plays (3-3)<BR>opinions (4-3)<P>overall (11-10)<P>had a great afternoon yesterday, and then fell apart at night losing both best bets. alabama still sucks in case anybody is wondering, and penn state is in for a long year.<P>fresno state +3.5 over oregon state (strong play)......fresno state's win over colorado is even more impressed after what colorado did to rival colorado state yesterday. alot of people like oregon state today too, i am going the other way with this one.<P>purdue -7.5 over cincinnati (regular play)....with only 5 starters on offense and not qb returning, i don't see cincinnati scoring much at all in this game. they might even get shutout. purdue even without drew brees should be able to put 20-30 points on the board today. the only thing in favor of cincinnati is they are at home, but that will not be enough.
