--------------------------------------------------------------------------------<BR>best bets (7-10)<BR>strong plays (7-10)<BR>regular plays (10-7)<BR>opinions (11-8)<BR>overall (35-35)<P>having a rough year so far. i am usually better in colleges and suck in pros, but it seems to have reversed on me this year. anyway, on to my picks..........<P>maryland +9.5 over goeorgia tech (regular play)....i know georgia tech is very good, but maryland has really impressed me this year. god knows i have bet against them enough times alread and have lost. i think maryland gets the loss here, but will cover the large spread.<P>bowling green +9.5 over w michigan (best bet)....am i missing something here?? isn't bowling green the better team, or at least even with them. give me the 9.5...thanks for the winner!!<P>rice -7 over navy (best bet)....navy sucks!!! that is all you need to know. just the fact that a team like rice is favored by a touchdown on the road tells you how bad navy is. rice by at least 21.<P>memphis -6.5 over houston (strong play)....houston sucks, not as bad as navy, but they are not much better. memphis should roll is this one.<P>auburn +21 over florida (strong play)...i know, a am going against all mighty florida. even teams that win the national championship play close games and get lucky along the way somewhere. it is not like auburn sucks!! they are actually pretty good. getting three touchdowns at home, where they will be ready and fired up to play, is too many points. i will take it.<P>troy state +24 over miss st (regular play)....troy state has played some good teams this year. they hung with miami last week and should cover this large number at miss. state.<P>washington +11.5 over ucla (regular play)....ucla is the class of the pac 10 this year, but washington is not bad either. i just can't see washington losing by double digits in this game. <P>syracuse -4 over pitt (opinion)...i am a huge pitt fan and i had my hopes up for them this year. not any more. they have showed me nothing. talent wise, this is a dead even game, but syracuse will win becuase of pitt mistakes. orange by 7.<P>texas a&m +8.5 over colorado (opinion)....a&m is undefeated and getting 8.5? colorado might be the most improved team in the big twelve this year, but the aggies will give them a battle saturday. this has close game written all over it.<P>usc -2.5 over arizona state (opinion)...just a gut feeling here. usc finally wins a game.<P>nc state +3.5 over clemson (opinion).. just a gut feeling here also. clemson not as good on the road, nc state might be a little underrated right now. another close game decided by a field goal.<BR>

This one just about to kickoff. Like the Terps at +8, liked 'em better at +9.5, but still like 'em at anything greater than +7. I think this will be a close shootout between 2 pretty decent offences.<P>Maryland +8 - 1*

State 61 Troy 16<P><BR>South Florida took that Utah trip as a fun trip; Conn's been winning against poor competition. USF beat Pitt, Conn can if it's basketball. October 13th, 2001<BR> <BR>Washington (4-0)<BR>UCLA (4-0) -12.5<BR> <BR> The battle of the unbeatens in the Pac-10 may just decide who gets to play in this year's Rose Bowl. <BR> <BR> Washington comes into this game with the health of their starting QB in question. Cody Pickett left last week's contest against the Trojans with a seperated shoulder in the first half of the game, and was replaced by Taylor Barton. <BR>Barton finished that game 11-20 for 197 yards and no interceptions. Neuheisel seems to have confidence in his 2nd stringer, and will have to with the status of PIckett still a question mark as game day approaches.<BR> <BR> John Anderson kicked a 32 yard field goal for the Huskies as time expired to give Washington a 27-24 victory, and their 12th straight win. The current winning streak for Washington ranks third in longevity behind Oklahoma and Miami. It marked the third time this season the Huskies have rallied in the 4th quarter to garner a victory. <BR> <BR> This will be the first game for the Bruins since a September 29th trashing of the Oregon State Beavers 38-7. DeShaun Foster has been the workhorse for this Bruin team, and they are ably quarterbacked by Cory Paus who has put up some nice numbers to start the season.<BR> <BR> The Bruins are playing only their 2nd home game of the season, the first being a 13-6 victory over Ohio State that was decided via a blocked punt. The Bruins have won games at Alabama, Kansas, and Oregon State. <BR> <BR> Defense has been the key part of the early season sucess for the Bruins. With a solid defense the Bruins are becoming a viable threat to win the Pac-10 this season, and this game will illuminate the road just that much more. <BR> <BR> The number in this game seems to quite large, even with a possible start by Washington's backup QB. While the Huskies haven't shown the ability to put teams away, they have shown they can hang around in ballgames and that will be what they are hoping for in this one. I see the Huskies hanging in this game, as they will probably battle defensively with the Bruins to see who can gain control. Neuheisel has shown the ability to come up big in the role of a dog, a complete reversal from his terrible performance in the role of favorite. Maybe I'm just a hometown guy but I'm really liking my USF Bulls tonight against UConn.<BR>This is our second home game, our first home game we beat up on a North Texas team. Last week we got our hats handed to us (badly) by Utah, but that was based on our inability to stop the run. Uconn doesn't run the ball, they have had only 2 games where they rushed for over 100 yards ( 115 Buffalo and 108 East Michigan ). In fact, Uconn's best runner is the QB Henry. This should play well into the UConn offense struggling to put up points.<BR>On the other side of the ball, UConn wont be able to slow down the Bulls spread offense. Uconn's defense is a bit banged up and we should be able to move the ball effectively and score at will.<BR>This is a great spot for the Bulls to run up the score (which the coach in the past has had no problem doing if he has the advantage - Sorta like spurrier, last year, we were still throwing bombs even when being up by 20+ points).<BR>So, in short, I think USF is in a good spot here. Look for a game with lots of scoring (mostly by the Bulls) and an easy cover of the 18 points. Bulls 45-17<BR>Tampa<P>
