November 10th, 2001
Florida (7-1) -12
South Carolina (7-2)
The Florida Gators appear to control their own destiny, as they still
have hope in the BCS. With one loss, the Gators would need some help, but
it's very feasible that the Gators could be in the Rose Bowl.
Way before any of that can take place, the Gators will have to travel to
Columbia, SC to face Lou Holtz and the Gamecocks of South Carolina.
SC practically took the week off in playing I-AA Wofford at home. They
will have to improve their offense if they have intention of hanging with the
Gators.
Everytime the Cocks get their chances against the elite of the SEC they
seem to falter. They played Tennessee with first place on the line, and they
were handed a 17-10 defeat.
South Carolina will have to contend with the bigtime offense of Florida
and the aggresive coaching style of Steve Spurrier. SC stunned Florida by
jumping out to a 21-3 lead in the 1st quarter last season......Florida scored
the next 38 to win 41-21.
While I can appreciate the job Lou has done in getting wins for SC, he
still hasn't gotten the players he needs to beat teams like Florida.
While coaching like he has money on the game, I expect Spurrier to come
after this Gamecocks offense, and then go for the juggler with Grossman.
King T Sports selection: Florida -12
GOOD LUCK!!!
King T
