Week 11 Nov. 16-17
LW 1-1-1 +.8 Season: 21-11 +18.1
Car.-6 (7-2 SU 6-3 ATS) vs. Wsh. (4-5 SU 3-4-2 ATS)
Panthers pulled off the big one last week vs. TB. Redskins managed a slightly less significant victory vs. Sea. with a trick play that Spurrier, the genius, must still be bragging about. Ks. State favorite, Rock Cartwright, got the skins ground game going with 81 yds on 13 carries, and Ramsey was not sacked for the first time all season. You wonder if Spurrier will make that connection. Stephen Davis is back and the Skins have given up 200 yds on the ground their last two on the road. Hope Car. doesn't take the day off. Panthers for three stars.
Oak +4 (2-7 SU 0-8-1 ATS) vs. Min (6-3 SU & ATS)
Life is so strange. By virtue of being forced to start a perennial failure at QB, the Raiders abandon that ridiculous dink offense and do what they should have been doing all year. Wheatly, Fargas, et.al. combine for 52 carries for 169 yds, allowing Rick Mirer to have a career day (18/25 for 186 yds. no ints. or sacks) and almost beat a Jets team that played only a tiny bit better than Oak, mostly by calling the OT coin toss correctly. Meantime, Minney showed the world how they can be beaten by allowing young Tomlinson and old Flutie to run all over them. (Flutie also threw for two tds) That 73 yd. end sweep by LT was particularly illustrative. That play should never go for a TD in the NFL. Lack of speed in the Def. backfield is not a deficiency a team can correct in a week. If Min. adopts Oak.'s strategy of last week this could be trouble–Raiders are no good against the run. Raiders do have the talent to handle Randy. Well, at least slow him down . . . maybe. Ten weeks into the season Oak. still has not covered. Min. must go to the West coast in successive weeks. Gimme da Raidas for two stars. I must be nuts.
GB+4 (4-5 SU&ATS) at TB (4-5 SU&ATS)
The Pack's ground game has been nothing short of astounding this year with Ahman Green chewing up the yards like a demon, at least when he can hold onto the ball. GB has rushed for over 150 yds. six times, 200 or better three times including their last two games. TB has averaged 115 in their four wins, but has stayed firmly in double digits in all their losses. Favre had a lousy game Mon. nite and the look on his face when Philly went ahead at the end of the game was sheer disgust. Then he fumbled away a last ditch chance on top of everything else. TB has given Mr. Brett hell over his career, but I'm thinkin' he will be ready Sun. TB's losses have been excruciatingly painful and must be taking a toll in terms of self confidence. Even though both teams are 1-3 their last four, GB would appear to have the more positive outlook. Two stars on the Packers
Jets +6 (3-6 SU 2-5-2 ATS) at Ind (7-2 SU 6-3 ATS)
Indy has gone over their last six games, the Jets, their last three. Marvin Harrison is damaged, but Indy has other receivers. Pennington looked very comfortable last week and the Jets offense had it's best game of the year even if it was vs. Oak. Both of these teams have serious defensive issues. I like the over 42.5 for two stars and a one star parlay on the Jets/over.
