Well I am back with this weeks edition of the Top 5.na, and they followed that up with 2 more nice wins. They have team speed, and a smart QB, their problem with the bucks is size. They are a small sized team, but they should make it interesting. Haven't looked at lines yet, but I would think anything over 21 would be a steal.
3. Georgia.. When you play on National TV, and win on the road at Alabama, that gets attention. Georgia did just that. They blew the lead, but showed composure by coming back at the wire to win. This team has been sorely overlooked by the national sportswriters and voters. Why? Because they haven't been ballyhooed like Texas and Oklahoma.
Did you know that Georgia to date has played the 35th toughest schedule. You say 35th is that it. Well Texas has played the 93rd hardest and Oklahoma the 98th hardest. There is a huge difference to me with just those facts.
Georgia doesn't have an easy road ahead of them as they face Tennessee at home next. This will be another stern test for the Bulldogs, but the right time to get Tennessee after the 6 overtime game versus Arkansas.
4. Virginia Tech.. They didn't play last week but still moved up one spot. They play at Boston College on Thursday night and will have the whole nation watching. Will they put on a show? You bet.
I look for VA Tech to lay the hammer and lay it all night long against BC.
5. Texas.. A lack luster win over Oklahoma St aat home. I don't buy the adage of looking towards next week...Will Texas be looking ahead to Kansas St, and Oklahoma looking ahead to Iowa St the next week as well?? Texas played poorly and a weak Oklahoma St team almost stole the show. Too bad they didn't.
Before I get into this weeks card, let's give some awards....
The big dog that did:
There were several double digit dogs that won outright last Saturday including Mississippi +13, Wake Forest +13',California +12, Eastern Michigan +11, but the biggest dog of them all was....
Arkansas St +16 over Middle TN Arkansas St won the game 13-7, I was a bit miffed on the line as I had ARK ST winning by 2, I stayed away figuring there was something going on that I had no clue about. It just goes to show that double digit dogs do win outright.
The team that should've lost but won....
Tennessee..... I picked Arkansas to cover, but there was no way this game should've went 6 OT, TN got very lucky to win this game.
The say what..... we scored 21 points, were getting 24 points on the line and still lost by 27 more.... Bowling Green -24 72 Ohio 21 ouch...
Say what part 2..... we were favored by 13 points but only scored 14 ourselves.... give us the points.... goes to Florida... winning 14-2 in the second quarter only to go on to lose 14-17....ugly ugly ugly....
Now on to this week, yes there is marquis matchups, it is like bowl day in october..
The key games are....
Florida St at Miami Miami takes on the state of Florida part 2... ABC Noon... Can't wait to see the Canes lay the smacketh down on the noles candy asses.....
Penn St at Michigan... to me an elimination game within the Big 10....loser of this game is out in my opinion....
Pitt at Notre Dame... Up and rising vs the risen from the ashes. This should be a great game...
Tenness at Georgia.... Which TN team shows up this week? Will the dawgs have a let down... marquis SEC game of the week...
Oregon at UCLA... Can the Ducks roll on again. Easily dismantled AZ, UCLA won't be as easy...
Oklahoma at Texas... Red River shootout, a game I am glad is taking place. One of them loses, and hell it's about time. Personally rooting for Texas, as Oklahoma is a fraud to me.. Texas is as well, but to me the better of the two frauds...
Well that's it from here. Root for Air Force to go undefeated..... Wouldn't that just be great.. They are off this week. Next up Notre Dame....
