Saw him many times at Candlestick Park. As a kid one of my favorite players. A True San Francisco Giant. RIP Willie. One of the Greatest

Met him back in 1975. I was just a kid at the time. Huge thrill. RIP.

The passing of Willie Mays is a tremendous loss for the baseball community and sports fans worldwide. He was an icon, a legend, and one of the greatest players to ever grace the field. His electrifying style, infectious enthusiasm, and unparalleled talent captivated audiences for generations.

Mays' legacy extends far beyond his impressive statistics and accolades. He was a trailblazer who broke barriers and inspired countless others to pursue their dreams. His impact on the game of baseball and society as a whole is immeasurable.

In the words of Mays himself, "I learned early in life that I had to play every day to win." His dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to excellence will forever serve as an inspiration to us all.

Great player it's crazy to think that because of him, I became a Dodgers fan at the ripe old age of 11. I actually thought Willie was quite a crook, lol.

One of the kids on our block was actually the bat boy for the Giants when Mays was playing. He took me and some of the other kids to the clubhouse to meet Mays, McCovey, Bobby Bonds, Tito Fuentes, Chris Spires, etc I remember being so in awe of the fact that they had a pool table in the clubhouse in a refrigerator filled with every flavor of soda on the map.

One day, my friend told me that a Rolex watch salesman gave Willie three watches. Willie kept one for himself and sold the other two to teammates for $50 a piece. I couldn't believe Willie wouldn't just give the watches to his teammates for free and thought he was quite the shyster (again, this is through the eyes of a 11-year-old that didn't understand the deal Willie was giving his teammates). At that point, I immediately started rooting for the Dodgers as I couldn't work for someone this unethical, lol.

RIP Willie
