Just a quick observation. It is incredible how quickly Circa has taken over from Westgate as "the" place in Vegas. Yesterday afternoon at Westgate it was possible to get a seat at any time during the day. In the old days it was stand by the rail if you are not there early. Crowded yes but not packed.
One advantage to being downtown is that you can hit multiple sportsbooks pretty quickly if you don't play on the apps.
Since NFL is more popular for betting I am curious how Westgate will look today. I still prefer the old Stardust but sadly no longer an option.
Despite the efforts to clean it up the Westgate is by and large a dump. Aside from the sportsbook I would never visit. The rooms are old and dated plus the elevators sound like they are on their last leg. I have eaten at every restaurant (even Benihana) and found nothing over the top except maybe the pot stickers at the Asian place. The live band they added up front seems nice and does seem to bring people in. If you go in with your wife or girlfriend expect to be hounded to sit through a timeshare presentation.
Now I still find the sportsbook great. To me it is an easier visit than dealing with the crowd at Circa. Find an open seat an you are good. Drink tickets are plentiful and they got rid of the 2 old lady cocktail servers that would primarily service their regulars.
