The Rockies are getting Senzatela back for the first time in almost 2 years and to be honest he's not the greatest pitcher. However, with him making his first start since May 2023, the D-backs hitters shouldn't be familiar with him. Granted the Rockies have nothing to play for as they were eliminated from the post season the day the season started. However, with Senzatela coming back after multiple surgeries, he'll be wanting to prove he still belongs. Further, I expect the Rockies to pull him after 4 or 5 innings and let their relievers finish it out. And as bad as the Rockies are, their middle relievers aren't that bad so if Senz can get through 4 or 5 innings, the Rockies may have a chance.
The Rockies will be facing Kelly who's last start was shortened by a hamstring cramp. Kelly has been seeing his ERA gradually climb through the season and he's a contact pitcher rather than strikeout which usually doesn't bode well for Coors Field.
With the D-Backs coming off a 10-inning 11-10 victory last night, then traveling to Colorado, I can see them having a letdown offensively.
The Rockies are 6-6 in their last 12 and have faced the Cubs, Tigers, Brewers, and Atlanta. No slouch teams. The D-backs have won 5-straight against the Rockies so they should be motivated. With the D-Backs unfamiliarity with Senz, plus facing not the strongest of pitchers in Kelly, I can see the Rockies possibly winning this or losing by 1. Lastly, they are a home dog and over 80% of the public is on Arizona (and over 90% is on the AZ ML), which is always a red flag for me when that much of the public is on one team.
