Diamondbacks/Colorado Over 10.5

The Diamondbacks have been playing themselves right out of the postseason by dropping back-to-back games against Colorado. They are now tied in the final wild card spot with the Mets and the Braves are only 2 games behind. This game is very important to AZ and they know it. On the other side, Colorado is just counting games until the end of the season. Colorado has swept only 2 series this season. They had back-to-back series sweeps in mid-May. Since then, they have not swept a series.

AZ will be facing Gomber who is just not a good pitcher no matter how you look at it. Gomber is known to give up a lot of hits and has never had consistency in his entire career. He's coming off back-to-back decent games for him where he gave up 9 hits and 2-runs and 5 hits and 1 earned run. Gomber has already pitched nearly 20 more innings than his previous highest. I think Gomber is due for a letdown.
The Rockies will be facing Rodriguez who is coming off a 7 K, 2-run game. Unfortunately for the diamondbacks, Rodriguez is not the pitcher they would like to put out there to get this win. He's 2-3 on the season with a 5.5 era and more importantly a 1.54 whip. Like Gomber, he gives up a lot of hits. His last game was one of the best he's had on the season so I believe he is due for a let down as well.

I'm not big on trends since if you look hard enough you can find a trend for anything but Colorado is 17-36 in day games this season. In those day games, the Rockies have a higher runs scored to at bat ratios and also give up more runs then they do in night games.

AZ must win this game and will be aggressive because they have to assume Rodriguez will be giving up some runs. I think they get after Gomber quick and with the way Colorado has been scoring (5.1 runs in their last 7) and facing Rodriguez, they'll get their fair share of runs as well, which is why I like the over.

Valdez almost unhittable his last 3 starts. Last 20+ innings has allowed 7 hits and 1 earned run, great value at a pick game with arguably the hottest pitcher In baseball

Last outing against New York Miller thru 6ip and gave up 5 runs on 4 hr’s. I think he’s way too good of a pitcher to allow this again. I’m going to back them as well tonight. Seattle got whooped last night. They need it more and at home.
