Seattle/Houston Under 7.5
Interesting game here with both teams coming off losses were they each blew a big lead. Seattle had a 5-run lead in the 6th while Houston had a 4-run lead going into the 6th. It was especially devastating for the Mariners as it may have cost them a chance for the final wild card spot. Seattle has to keep winning and likely can't lose more than 1 more game and still needs help, 2 at most if they get a lot of help. Luckily for them they finish the season against the As but the teams ahead of them each have a series left against a bottom dwellers, Royals-Nationals, Tigers-White Sox, Twins-Marlins.
Houston on the other hand is comfortably in the playoffs and looking to clinch their division tonight as long as their bullpen doesn't implode like it did yesterday. Even still, both teams are hot right now with the mariners on 11-6 run in their last 17 while Houston is 8-3 in their last 11.
As for pitching, Seattle has Miller taking the mound who is having a great season and currently has the 5th best WHIP in baseball at 0.99 and a 3.05 ERA. He's coming off a game where he gave up 4 walks which tied his high for the season. The previous time he gave up 4 walks, he came back with a 10 K, 2H, 1 ER next game. Miller also has a 3-1 record in 5 starts against Houston, which honestly, I don't put a lot of stock in to but he does have familiarity with Houston's lineup. Houston will be starting Brown who is having a pretty good season himself. He's 26 years old and in his second season as a starter. His record, era, and Ks are in the top 30 in baseball. More importantly though, he's been getting better as the season went on and has lowered his era every month. His last game wasn't anything to write home about as he gave up 5 hits and only had 3 Ks.
With both teams needing to play serious baseball and coming off a 4 and 5 run blown leads, I imagine they'll both run a tight ship tonight. And with both pitchers coming in a for a quasi-rebound, I like the under tonight.
