I like Detroit here because Verlander’s 2025 MLB baseline was clearly stronger than Soroka’s, and his recent results against Arizona were better than the full sample suggests with a 6 IP, 2 ER start and a 7 IP shutout in two 2025 meetings. The Tigers are also bringing much better recent run prevention into this matchup, posting a 2.67 ERA over their last 10 while Arizona comes home after getting swept in a rough opening set at Dodger Stadium. The line has already moved toward Detroit, so the edge is not as big as it was earlier, but at a near pick’em price I still think the better starter profile and better current staff form make Tigers ML +100 the right side.
