Jeffrey Springs hasn’t been at his sharpest over his last couple of outings, but he has the repertoire to shut down this Philadelphia Phillies lineup. As a left-handed starter, Springs can limit the power of left-handed bats like Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber by tunneling his slider off his four-seam fastball. Keeping those hitters in the ballpark is crucial against this lineup. Last season, Springs allowed 28 home runs, but only three came against left-handed hitters. If he can establish his changeup against the Phillies’ right-handed bats, he has a strong path to neutralizing the offense, especially with Harper and Schwarber likely struggling to generate power against the lefty.

Springs ERA is 3.96 and Wheeler has been very good in 2 starts since coming back with ERA of 2.45 in 11 innings pitched. Both offenses have struggled with Athletics ranked 24th on the road scoring and phili’s ranked 27th in overall run creation. Good luck.

Milwaukee ML -105, Pallante has gotten off to a good start this year but the brewers have always been a bit of a nemesis for him with a career era over 5 against them and hitters on the team hitting .327 against him in 55 AB’s

Pirates ML -120. I’m backing Pittsburgh tonight with Paul Skenes on the mound because he’s absolutely dominated Arizona in recent matchups, allowing zero earned runs across his last two starts against them. The Pirates also come in with the hotter offense and a much stronger on-base profile, which should create plenty of scoring chances against Michael Soroka and his 1.43 WHIP. Arizona’s bullpen has been shaky lately, and if Soroka struggles early again like he did in his last outing, Pittsburgh is in a great spot to take control of this game. After getting blown out yesterday, this feels like a strong bounce-back spot for the Pirates behind their ace.
