Iowa State -45.5

Huge spread here but Iowa State loves to start the season fast. Last 2 season openers Iowa State has won by 41 and 49 points against far better teams than MS Valley State. The game is in Ames which will be rocking for sure. Also, after how their season went last year, getting bounced in the Sweet Sixteen was actually kind of a letdown. They dominated the #1 team Houston to win the Big 12 and anything less than final four was going to be considered a letdown by some.

MS Valley State is one of the worst teams in CBB and might actually be the worst. They went 1-30 last season and lost 106-60 in their season opener against LSU. Their highest point total last year was 77 points, and they only scored 70 or more, 3 times.
Iowa State is one of the best teams in the nation and might actually be better this year than last where they won 29-games. Iowa State is returning 9-players including 3-starters from last year's team. Needless to say, Iowa State has depth and even if they pull their starters, Iowa State's bench players are substantially better than MS Valley State's.

it's a huge spread but Iowa State should win this by 50 or more.

A few little things add up for me here. Pelicans are playing the second night of a back-to-back. Portland is 2-0-1 ATS on the road this young season. Pelican's lack of size will show on defense against a Portland team that has good center position rotation.
