Once again trusting Riley to use his legs heavily in this matchup.

14 rush attempts last week in the win vs UGA. 8 designed runs, his highest mark since Week 5. RB Jeremiyah Love is banged up coming into this one, expecting ND to continue to lean on Leonard and Price here.

Also had 11 attempts in the blowout win vs Indiana in the first round, and 12 in the last week of the regular season vs USC, which was a big game.

PSU run defense is their strength, but aren’t great vs ND’s running scheme. Middle of the pack in the FBS against inside zone. Riley should be able to find some success.

If Abdul Carter suits up for PSU (which they expect him to) there is more upside for sacks/pressures leading to scrambles as well.

Penn St moneyline

Word is that a handful of Notre Dame players have the flu. In what is expected to be a coin flip game, could be the difference and makes me lean Penn State here.

Both defenses are dominant. Notre Dame gives up 13.6 ppg and Penn St. 15.7 ppg. This being a semi-final game I think think the game plan will be simple runs and pass when needed hoping the other team will make the first mistake/turnover. Penn St. should be ready for Riley Leonard trying to stop his running ability like he did against Georgia.

I think Notre Dame’s defense will be able to slow down the Penn State running attack and win the game with field positioning. With love back in the lineup, it should help ND offense if he is able to give them any productivity.
