Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7 SU, 3-5 ATS) vs. Green Bay Packers (6-2 SU, 6-2 ATS)

Outlook
While one team is pretty much done with this season, the other is trying to get a measure of consistency. The Packers remain at the top of a relatively weak NFC North, but they’re struggling to play two quality games in a row. Since the bye week, Green Bay has dusted both Houston and San Francisco, but got drilled by Tampa Bay and couldn’t stop Minnesota’s ground game. Unsurprisingly, those two losses were the Packers’ lowest-scoring games of the year.

Points shouldn’t be a problem against Jacksonville, which has proven to be utterly inept on defense ever since its opening victory over the Colts. Since then, the Jaguars have lost seven straight and haven’t held anybody under 27 points in that stretch, with six of those seeing the opponent put up 30 or more. Of course, that number is a death sentence against the Packers: Green Bay is 6-0 when it gets to 30 and 0-2 when it doesn’t.

How the Public is Betting the Jacksonville/Green Bay Game
The public is going all-in on the Packers, as 68 percent of the tickets have come in on Green Bay despite the heavy line. The line hasn’t budged despite that number, but the total has fallen from 54.5 to 50.

When Jacksonville Has the Ball
With Gardner Minshew on the bench, Jacksonville has actually gotten more aggressive. That’s for two main reasons. First, Jacksonville really has nothing to lose and might as well throw caution to the wind, given that they’re now 1-7 and won’t be anywhere close to the playoffs. Second, Jake Luton actually has a fairly strong arm, and the Jaguars believe their best chance to win is to let him take chances, despite his lack of experience at the NFL level.

It ended up working out decently against Houston, as Luton only tossed one interception in 38 passes and ended up with 304 passing yards. The problem is that Jacksonville pretty much has to pass because the running game just isn’t getting it done. James Robinson ended up with 99 rushing yards, but he needed 25 carries to do it, which just isn’t good enough when you need to keep a potent offense like the Packers off the field. In order to have any hope of staying competitive, Jacksonville will have to throw it often, and that means that D.J. Chark has to have another big game. Against Houston, he caught seven passes for 146 yards and a touchdown and was a big part of Luton’s success.

When Green Bay Has the Ball
Throwing this Jacksonville defense against Aaron Rodgers seems to be like throwing a steak to a starving lion. Rodgers looked like his usual self last week against San Francisco, tossing for four touchdowns against the 49ers’ patchwork lineup. Jacksonville doesn’t have the excuse of being banged up the way San Francisco is; this is just a weak defense that hasn’t been able to slow down anyone except Indianapolis.

That’s a recipe for disaster against just about anyone, but especially against Rodgers, who’s proving that he’s not slowing down even at age 36. He’s as good as ever this season, tossing 24 touchdown passes against just two interceptions. What makes Rodgers’ performance even more impressive is that virtually everyone on the field knows who the ball is going to and still can’t stop it. Davante Adams has more targets than the Packers’ next two receivers combined, and he’s still managed to go for 675 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on the season. With Aaron Jones in the backfield, the Packers do actually have a solid ground component to their attack, but having Rodgers means they don’t have to use it often.

Betting Trends
Some underdogs tend to rise up and play to the level of their competition, making them excellent spread bets. Jacksonville is not one of those teams. The Jaguars have covered in just one of their past six games and appear pretty content to simply accept their destiny as one of the weakest teams in the NFL and the high draft pick that comes with that dishonor. To be completely fair, that applies mostly to the Jaguars’ defense, as Jacksonville has hit the over in six of its past eight games as an underdog.

Meanwhile, Green Bay tends to get its job done pretty regularly. The Packers have covered the number in five of their past seven games as a favorite and are 4-1 ATS in their past five games at Lambeau Field. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the past five games in this series, but seeing as how one of those games took place in 2001 when Jake Luton was in kindergarten, don’t read too much into that trend.

Weather Report
This could be an ugly day for football, as temperatures will be in the mid-40s, and wind and rain are in the forecast. Winds will be blowing west-northwest 14 miles an hour, with about a quarter-inch of rain expected.

This one looks fairly straightforward, as Jacksonville is a bad team going nowhere and doesn’t look at all capable of stopping the Packers’ offense. The Jaguars will put up some points here and there, but they’re not going to be able to keep pace with Rodgers and company, especially not in lousy Wisconsin weather.

Alex Smith will start under center for Washington (2-6 SU, 4-4 ATS) for the first time since breaking his leg two years ago. He and Washington look to boost their flickering NFC East title hopes with a win over the struggling Lions (3-5, 3-5), whose QB Matthew Stafford suffered a suspected concussion last week.

At the time of writing, Stafford’s uncertain status had caused most sportsbooks to pull this game off the board. The Detroit QB passed the NFL’s concussion protocol on Monday.

Washington News & Notes
Smith is making his first start since breaking the tibia and fibula in his right leg nearly two years ago, but he has seen action in a couple of relief appearances this year. In fact, Smith threw for 325 yards and a touchdown last week after starter Kyle Allen suffered a potentially season-ending ankle injury.

However, Smith also threw three interceptions as Washington couldn’t overcome a 5-0 turnover differential in a 23-20 loss to the Giants. The veteran also didn’t get much help from Washington’s 29th-ranked running game, which gained just 37 yards on the ground.

It all sets up for Washington to play another low-scoring contest on the road, where the team has gone UNDER the total in seven of its last 10 games. Washington’s defense continues to hold up its end of the bargain this season, recording five sacks and allowing just 212 yards through the air against the Giants last week to maintain its top ranking against the pass. Washington has also gone UNDER in four of its last five games against NFC opponents.

Detroit News & Notes
With their playoff hopes all but dead, Stafford potentially out and head coach Matt Patricia under fire, it’s tough to imagine a fired-up Lions squad taking the field in this one. Detroit looked lifeless defensively in last week’s 34-20 loss at Minnesota, allowing the Vikings to easily march down the field for touchdowns on their first two possessions and surrendering 206 rushing yards to Dalvin Cook.

The defeat dropped Patricia’s record in Detroit to 12-27-1, fueling speculation that he’ll be the next head coach to join the unemployment line. Lions bettors aren’t too happy with Patricia, either, as his team has covered just five of its last 19 outings overall and only two of its last nine at home.

Even if Stafford does suit up against Washington, he’ll likely have missed practice for a second consecutive week. Stafford didn’t practice prior to the game against Minnesota after being in close contact with someone who had COVID-19, and the NFL’s concussion protocols could keep him out of practice this week as well.

If Stafford can’t play, journeyman Chase Daniel will likely take his place. Daniel threw a touchdown and a pick last week in relief of Stafford, completing eight of 13 passes for 94 yards.

Whether Stafford plays or not, there’s little reason to expect many explosive plays between these two mediocre offenses.

Washington is 4-18 SU in its last 22 games against NFC opponents.
Detroit is 5-14 ATS in its last 19 games.
The UNDER is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.

In an otherwise disappointing season for the Houston Texans, they will attempt to defeat the Cleveland Browns for a sixth straight time on Sunday as small road underdogs. The Texans have won the past five meetings with the Browns both straight up and against the spread dating back to 2008, with an average margin of victory of more than 15 points.

Opening Odds Analysis
It is not a surprise to see the point spread move up to Cleveland -3 in early betting action, although it will be interesting to see if it moves much higher than that. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list after a staff member tested positive, but he himself has reportedly tested negative. That means Mayfield should be able to practice later in the week, barring any setbacks, and start on Sunday. Of course, this is a fluid situation, though, and any potential setback would obviously impact these numbers.

Cleveland News & Notes
Assuming Mayfield is good to go, Cleveland should be in a good position to pick up another victory in this spot and stay in contention for a spot in the postseason.

While the Browns will have a tough time catching the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North, the expanded playoff field still gives them a solid opportunity to return for the first time since 2002.

That makes this a must-win situation, though, and they have not fared well after a bye historically. Cleveland is only 2-7 straight up and 2-5-2 against the spread in its last nine games following a bye, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database, but maybe the extra time off has helped the team get healthier this time around.

Bettors saw just how the weather can affect the total in Cleveland the last time the team played there, as Las Vegas came to town and left with a 16-6 victory. The total on that game closed at 47.5 after opening much higher, and there could be a similar situation here. A 40 percent chance of rain is forecasted for Sunday

The Browns are 7-2 SU in their last 9 home games.
The OVER is 5-2 in the Browns’ last 7 games.
The UNDER is 8-1 in the past 9 meetings.

The Philadelphia Eagles will play the New York Giants for the second time in three games when they return from their bye week to visit MetLife Stadium as small road favorites on Sunday. The Eagles are coming off an ugly 23-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys as 10-point home favorites in the Week 8 Sunday Night Football game after rallying to defeat the Giants 22-21 as 5-point chalk the previous Thursday in another prime-time matchup.

Opening Odds Analysis
The point spread has gone up slightly in Philadelphia’s favor to -3.5 while the total has moved even more to 44 in early betting action at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. The upward movement on the total is interesting considering the Eagles scored just 10 points through the first three quarters in the last meeting. Philadelphia’s offense has been disappointing for most of the year but surprisingly good enough to lead a dismal division. Bettors must think the team worked out some of those offensive struggles during the bye.

Philadelphia News & Notes
The Eagles are clearly the best team in the NFC East right now, but they are almost no threat to do anything in the playoffs at this point. They play three of their next four games on the road and five of six against potential playoff teams, although New York is clearly not one of those.

In other words, Philadelphia must start playing better here in order to stay competitive down the stretch against some much more worthy opponents. The Eagles needed a touchdown in the final minute to beat the Giants last time after trailing 21-10 early in the fourth quarter. They also needed to rally from a 9-7 halftime deficit vs the Cowboys, who were held scoreless after the intermission and failed to cover.

New York News & Notes
This New York team has been incredibly frustrating to watch this season from a win-loss perspective, mostly because bettors can see some talent that often hangs tough before eventually losing. The exception came last week, though, as the Giants held on for a 23-20 win over Washington after leading by double digits for much of the game.

They covered the spread for the fifth time in six games, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database, and saw their fifth straight decided by three points or less. The difference was that the team found a way to win for only the second time this season, but against the same opponent. And New York cannot play Washington every week.

The Eagles have a clean slate after their bye and know their schedule gets increasingly difficult following this game. They learned their lesson in the last meeting with the Giants and will not get behind big early this time around.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS) vs. Carolina Panthers (3-6 SU, 5-4 ATS)

Last week, the consensus G.O.A.T. in Tom Brady suffered the largest loss of his college or professional career as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were embarrassed on the national stage in a 38-3 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. Simply losing to the Saints was not necessarily a huge surprise, granted that many thought the Buccaneers would prevail. However, the awful performance to a division rival and the fact Tampa Bay was held to just 3 points with an all-star cast of talent on the offensive side of the ball; well, that is about as shocking as it gets. On Sunday, Tampa Bay looks to turn things around with a road trip to Charlotte to battle the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium.

At first glance, this Sunday’s NFC South showdown between the Buccaneers and Panthers appears to be the perfect spot for the Buccaneers to rebound. The Panthers have dropped four straight games and have surpassed the Falcons for last place in the division. However, the Panthers have been extremely competitive despite the four straight losses. In fact, Carolina took Kansas City down to the wire in last week’s 33-31 loss. In my opinion, Head Coach Matt Rhule has done a phenomenal job in his debut season despite numerous injuries and an inferior group of talent. As a result, it would not be surprising to see the Panthers contend for the victory in this game, especially if Tampa Bay matches their performance from last Sunday.

RB Christian McCaffrey listed as doubtful against Tampa Bay
Last week, All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey returned to the field for the first time since week 2. The Panthers standout was sidelined for several weeks with an ankle injury. McCaffrey’s presence provides an immediate boost to Carolina’s offense, which could be seen in their ability to rack up 31 points against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Unfortunately, McCaffrey suffered a shoulder injury and is reportedly getting 2nd opinion evaluations on the severity. As a result, McCaffrey is expected to be out again on Sunday, and the team is uncertain around the projected length of his absence.

Tampa Bay vs. Carolina Betting Analysis
Though the Panthers will miss running back Christian McCaffrey’s presence, Head Coach Matt Rhule has done a really good job of sustaining a sound offense in his absence. Backup running back Mike Davis has been solid, and the team has also used WR Curtis Samuel in creative ways, including backfield touches. Furthermore, QB Teddy Bridgewater has played well despite a slightly concerning interception total (6). Still, Bridgewater is completing 72% passing and has been able to stretch the field to receivers, Robby Anderson and DJ Moore. Simply put, this Panthers offense has been efficient and effective.

Tampa Bay has one of the better defenses in the league, but if there is a weakness, it comes in the secondary. We saw the Saints shine a light on the pass defense concerns last week, and stylistically this match-up could favor the Panthers finesse passing scheme. Ultimately, the focus will still be on the other side of the ball where Brady and company attempt to rebound. When you consider the receiving cast of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown, there should be no excuses in passing targets. Brady was awful against the Saints with three interceptions, but we should not expect that trend to continue. Historically, Brady has bounced back after poor performances. Still, I’m not convinced a better performance will be enough. The Buccaneers offense lacks a narrative, and I also believe Bruce Arians was completely out-coached last week. I would not be surprised to see a similar result this week.

The Miami Dolphins have shaken off a 1-3 SU and 2-2 ATS start to the season to go 4-0 SU and ATS over their last four games, surging into playoff contention in the process. The Dolphins will look to stay hot Sunday when they host the Los Angeles Chargers in what should be an exciting battle between two rookie quarterbacks.

Los Angeles News & Notes
The Chargers suffered yet another heartbreaking loss last Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Justin Herbert had another strong game as he completed 28 of his 42 pass attempts for 326 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and no interceptions.

But on the final drive of the game, Herbert led the Chargers down to a first-and-goal on the Raiders’ four-yard line before failing to convert the field position into a touchdown. Los Angeles lost 31-26 as a 1-point underdog and fell to 1-6 SU over its last seven games.

Herbert now has 15 touchdown passes and only three interceptions over his last five games. Los Angeles has been extremely competitive with Herbert under center as their six losses have all come by less than seven points and by an average of only four points. Giving up 31.8 points per game on defense over the team’s last five games has doomed the Chargers to a 1-4 SU record over that stretch.

Miami News & Notes
Tua Tagovailoa shined in Miami’s 34-31 win over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, going 20-for-28 for 248 passing yards with two passing touchdowns and no interceptions. Miami improved to 5-3 SU and 6-2 ATS with the win despite being a betting underdog in all but one of its games this season.

With Tagovailoa under center and the team playing so well overall, expect to see the Dolphins going off as favorites more often over the second half of the season.

The Dolphins are averaging an impressive 30.1 points per game over their last seven games. Brian Flores has done an incredible job turning this Dolphins team into a playoff contender in such a short period of time, exceeding expectations with a 5-11 SU campaign last year and doing so again in 2020.

The Las Vegas Raiders will look to extend their winning streak to three games but win for the first time in three at home on Sunday when they host the Denver Broncos as solid favorites at Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders are playing the second of three consecutive divisional games while the Broncos are away from home for the second straight week following a 34-27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons as 4.5-point underdogs.

Opening Odds Analysis
The point spread has already jumped as high as Las Vegas -5.5 with the total up to 52 at some sportsbooks . While most situational totals trends seemingly favor the UNDER in this spot, it is very hard to ignore the ability of both teams to essentially score at will on their opponents lately. The Raiders have also lost two straight at home, but the opponents who beat them there are a combined 13-5.

Denver News & Notes
Denver had won three of four before falling at Atlanta last Sunday, although none of the victories during that stretch was particularly impressive. The Broncos rallied back from a 24-3 deficit to stun the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago in a 31-30 victory as 3-point home underdogs, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull off the upset.

Then last week, Denver again tallied 21 in the fourth but came up short by a touchdown after giving up one late. Quarterback Drew Lock threw a costly interception, and he must avoid key turnovers in the clutch if the Broncos are going to take the next step. It would also help if the running backs totaled more than the 41 yards on 14 carries they amassed in that game.

Las Vegas News & Notes
Las Vegas has performed well vs Denver lately, winning three of the past five meetings straight up and covering the spread in each of those games, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database.

As well, the two losses were both by one point, including a 16-15 setback as a 4.5-point road underdog in last year’s regular-season finale. It is also worth noting all those games fell UNDER the total, and extending this particular trend may be tough here based on how well the offenses for the Raiders and Broncos are playing right now.

Las Vegas did come up huge defensively last Sunday at SoFi Stadium, holding on for a 31-26 win and covering the spread as a 1-point road favorite against Los Angeles. Despite their recent home woes, the Raiders have won three straight on the road.

Early betting has seen this total hit as high as 52, so consider that before jumping on this number. Weather will not be a factor either since this one will be played indoors, although these teams simply have not scored much against each other over the past three seasons. You have to go back to 2016 to find the last time they combined for 50 points, and that was the only time in 10 meetings.

The Raiders are 5-0 ATS in the past 5 meetings with the Broncos.
The OVER is 7-1 in Las Vegas’ last 8 games.
The Broncos are 2-12 SU in their last 14 road games vs teams with winning records.

The Buffalo Bills, coming off their most impressive win of the season against the Seahawks, face another NFC West team as they head to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals. This matchup will feature two young star quarterbacks and likely not a lot of defense.

Buffalo News & Notes
The Buffalo Bills (7-2 SU, 4-5 ATS) head to Arizona after putting up 44 points on Seattle as quarterback Josh Allen had one of the most impressive games of his career. Seattle’s defense is bad, but Allen was almost perfect, going 31-for-38 for 415 yards and three touchdowns.

However, Allen’s stellar outing came on the heels of four consecutive comparatively poor performances and it is unclear at this point which player will show up each week: the MVP candidate or mistake-prone dud.

Luckily for Allen, his supporting cast on offense can do some of the heavy lifting as receivers Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis have been among the league’s best foursomes. Diggs has turned into an every-week fantasy and DFS stud as he now leads the league in receptions (63) and receiving yards (813).

Arizona News & Notes
Led by budding superstar quarterback Kyler Murray, the Arizona Cardinals offense has been potent in its own right. Murray has been efficient this season, ranking in the top 12 in quarterback rating, QBR and completion percentage. But it is on the ground where he is so dangerous.

Murray is eighth in the league in rushing yards, ahead of top backs such as Alvin Kamara, James Conner and Aaron Jones. He operates like a point guard controled by a joystick as his warp-speed change of direction and quickness allow him to distribute the ball or pick up a quick first down unlike any other player in the league.

Of course, it helps having one of the league’s premier receivers in DeAndre Hopkins to occupy the defense’s attention while Murray weaves through traffic. Watch for Hopkins to have a bounce-back game in Week 10 after he was a non-factor against the Dolphins.

The game is almost a pick’em with two evenly matched teams, two great young quarterbacks and two average or worse defenses. The only thing we are certain of in this game is there will be a lot of points scored.

Cincinnati Bengals (2-5-1 SU, 6-2 ATS) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-0 SU, 6-2 ATS)

Outlook
Easy pickings with the AFC North division leader hosting a team that won’t sniff the playoffs, right? Not so fast. The Bengals are a lot better than their record suggests, and except for a blowout loss to Baltimore, Cincinnati has played tough against every opponent on its schedule. Out of six games where the Bengals haven’t come away with a win, five have been by five points or less. That extends to meetings with Pittsburgh as well. The Bengals have lost 10 in a row to the Steelers. That said, six of the past nine matchups have been decided by seven points or less.

As for the Steelers, they were fortunate to survive in Dallas, and now they come home for the first time since Oct. 18. That game was also the only time that they really pounded an opponent at Heinz Field, as they’ve allowed the Broncos, Texans, and Eagles to stay close with them before ultimately pulling out a victory. Pittsburgh is not a team that blows out its opposition; rather, the Steelers win because they play disciplined football, don’t beat themselves, and cash in when they have a quality possession. Will that be enough to cover a large spread against a young and hungry Bengals team that appears very much on the rise?

How the Public is Betting the Cincinnati/Pittsburgh Game
Sharps didn’t wait on this one, and as a result, the line has fallen fast. The Bengals went on the board as 10-point underdogs, but with 54% of tickets on them and more before the line dropped, the number has fallen to 7.5. The total has come down with it, dropping to 46 from 49.

Injury Concerns
Cincinnati:
Defensive end Sam Hubbard (elbow), running back Joe Mixon (foot), wide receiver John Ross (illness), tackle Bobby Hart (knee), center Trey Hopkins (concussion), tackle Jonah Williams (neck), guard Michael Jordan (not that one, illness) and corner Darius Phillips (groin) are questionable. Defensive end Margus Hunt is out indefinitely with illness.

Pittsburgh:
Linebacker Vince Williams, tackle Jerald Hawkins, tight end Vance McDonald and running back Jaylen Samuels are out indefinitely with COVID concerns. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is questionable, while cornerback Mike Hilton (shoulder) is questionable.

When Cincinnati Has the Ball
Joe Burrow seems to be the right man for the job in Cincinnati, as he’s getting better every week and has thrown five touchdowns against just one interception in his past two starts. However, he’s now got to show that he can do it away from Paul Brown Stadium. His three worst games of the season have all come away from home, and he failed to throw a touchdown against either Indianapolis or Baltimore.

However, the last game against Tennessee was a significant step forward for Cincinnati. Not only did the Bengals get a convincing win, but they did it without Joe Mixon on the field. The running game wasn’t exactly up to par with Giovani Bernard running the show, but it did enough to get the job done and allow Burrow to throw the ball consistently well and not turn the ball over. It seems Burrow is really developing a connection with Tee Higgins, as the rookie receiver has accumulated 2274 receiving yards and a score in the Bengals’ past three games. Given the Bengals’ defensive liabilities, Burrow and Higgins have to keep that connection going in order to keep pace with the Steelers.

When Pittsburgh Has the Ball
The big question for the Steelers is whether Roethlisberger will be able to play. He’s officially listed as battling a knee issue, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. The reality is that Roethlisberger was in close contact with Vance McDonald, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, meaning the quarterback can’t be at the team facility until Saturday. To hear the Steelers tell it, Roethlisberger would have been limited in practice anyway because of sore knees, but were he not battling COVID concerns, he’d be playing for sure on Sunday.

Regardless of whether it’s Roethlisberger or Mason Rudolph under center, Pittsburgh will likely opt for a steady dose of James Conner to try to exploit a Cincinnati run defense that just is not getting the job done. The Bengals might have bested Tennessee, but it certainly wasn’t because they could stop Derrick Henry, who ended up with 112 yards and a score in a losing effort for the Titans. Beyond Conner, Pittsburgh’s offense will center around pass-catchers Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith-Schuster, but the extent to which they’re involved depends a lot on who is under center. If Roethlisberger plays, both should see plenty of targets. However, Mason Rudolph might play it a little safer if he gets the call.

Betting Trends
Playing on the road is no big deal for Cincinnati, as the Bengals don’t have much of a home-field advantage anyway and actually seem pretty comfortable away from home. In their past 16 road games, the Bengals have managed to cover 11 times, and they’re 5-1 ATS in their past six games against AFC opponents. However, the Steelers have tended to dominate the line at home, covering in six of their past eight games at Heinz Field. They’ve also had the better of things against Cincinnati when the Bengals make the trip east, as they’ve covered in five of seven against Cincinnati at Heinz Field.

Points don’t tend to be part of the plan when the Steelers face their division rivals, as seven of their past ten against AFC North opponents have seen the under cash. The Bengals are no exception to this trend: the over hasn’t cashed in this series since 2017, and the teams haven’t combined to top 44 points at Heinz Field since 2013. In fact, 12 of the last 13 meetings in Pittsburgh have finished with 44 points or less.

Weather Report
The weather has all the makings of a nasty day for football, with the wind blowing south-southwest at 10 miles an hour and a steady rain looking likely throughout the contest. The one plus is that the temperature won’t be terrible, as kickoff is expected to be around 62 degrees.

With bad weather and the Steelers’ defense involved, this has all the makings of another game hitting the under between these teams

Another reliable trend: Cincinnati keeping the game close. The Bengals aren’t yet ready to defeat the Steelers.

Seattle News & Notes
The Seahawks are just one season removed from ranking in the top 10 in the NFL on defense in both total yards allowed and points per game allowed. In 2020, Seattle ranks dead last in the league by allowing 455.8 total yards per game and is 30th in scoring defense, yielding 30.4 points per game. Those defensive woes were on clear display in the team’s 44-34 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.

But despite their abysmal defense, the Seahawks are still 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS this season due to their league-leading offense. With 2,541 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns through eight games, Russell Wilson is on pace for 5,082 passing yards and 54 passing touchdowns in 2020.

With starting running back Chris Carson and backup Carlos Hyde both listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, Wilson could have another day with a lot of pass attempts ahead of him.

Los Angeles News & Notes
Jared Goff had 61 pass attempts in Los Angeles’s 28-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins on November 1, completing only 57.4 percent of them for 355 passing yards, one passing touchdown and two interceptions.

A soft schedule to open the season helped the Rams jump out to a 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS start, but since then they are just 1-2 SU and ATS. Los Angeles is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS against teams in the lowly NFC East and just 1-3 SU and ATS against everyone else it has faced.

The Rams have been rock-solid on defense, ranking second in the NFL in total yards allowed with 291.1 per game and second in scoring defense, allowing 19 points per game. But an underwhelming 24.1 points per game on offense has prevented the team from having success against stiffer competition. The UNDER is 5-0 in Los Angeles’s last five games.

This will be an interesting battle of styles as the Seahawks do best in shootouts and the Rams do best in defensive battles when they can control the tempo. Los Angeles’s defense might win the day, but considering the Rams are still a bit overrated due to their soft schedule

Seattle is 1-5 SU in its last 6 road games vs Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is 5-0 in its last 5 home games.
The OVER is 7-2 in Seattle’s last 9 games.

San Francisco 49ers (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS) vs. New Orleans Saints (6-2 SU, 3-5 ATS)

The New Orleans Saints delivered one of the biggest and perhaps slightly surprising wins of the season last week when they obliterated Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On the road and everything, the Saints delivered a stunning 38-3 victory in a game where they entered as small underdogs. Instead, the Saints clearly proved they remain the top team in the NFC South and made a claim for the best in the NFC. On Sunday, the Saints return home for a Week 10 showdown with the injury-plagued San Francisco 49ers, who have dropped two straight games and are currently listed as 9.5 point underdogs, which is the largest spread of the 49ers season.

San Francisco injury updates for week 10
If you have kept up with the 49ers this season, perhaps you already know that the team has been riddled with injuries around their biggest stars. QB Jimmy Garoppolo, TE George Kittle, DE Nick Bosa, RB Jeff Wilson, CB Richard Sherman, and WR Kendrick Bourne are just a few of the popular names that are currently on the Injured Reserve for different reasons. In reality, the 49ers injury report looks like an itemized receipt from the grocery store, which is why the defending NFC Champions are just 4-5 SU and 4-5 ATS this season.

For week 10, the 49ers appear to be in a good position to get back a few players to help their cause. RB Tevin Coleman (knee) and WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) are listed as questionable but are trending in the right direction. Even outside of the players on the IR, the 49ers were also without Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and K’Waun Williams on the defensive side of the football. As you can see, it has just been a nightmare for the 49ers this season, which has made the team nearly unrecognizable from a week to week standpoint.

QB Nick Mullens vs. Saints Defense
The match-up to watch this Sunday will be the Saints defense against backup quarterback Nick Mullens. The 49ers’ ability to produce scoring opportunities will directly decide their ability to keep this game competitive and within the spread. In 5 games played this season, Mullens is completing 68% passing for 1,143 yards with five touchdowns and four picks. The numbers are not exactly impressive but remember, San Francisco is still a run-first offense. The problem with that narrative is the Saints rank 2nd in the NFL in run defense, allowing just 80 yards per game. Recently, New Orleans’ defense has been playing even better allowing just 47 yards per game over the three last three contests. As a result, this appears to be a perfect match-up for New Orleans because if they can shut down the run, they could put turnover-prone Mullens into difficult passing situations. In that scenario, you have to like New Orleans’ chances to run away with this game, especially if they can force a few turnovers.

Saints offense in week 10
While the match-ups indicate upside for the Saints defense, we still must consider the alternatives and probability of different outcomes from a handicapping perspective. If the 49ers are able to run the ball effectively, what is the likelihood the Saints still pull out the cover? In my opinion, I believe there is still a high probability of the Saints pulling out the cover even if we don’t get the significant defensive effort that I expect, and that reason revolves around the Saints offense. Coach Sean Payton continues to prove why he is the best play-caller in the business. Last week, we witnessed Taysom Hill get mixed into the quarterback position in situations and thrived with each snap. The Saints are fully healthy for the first time in several weeks, and we witnessed a glimpse of their potential last week against the Buccaneers. New Orleans has weapons all over the field and has averaged an NFL 4th best 30.5 points per game this season. Therefore, rest assured that the Saints offense will put bettors in an advantageous situation on Sunday!

The Baltimore Ravens are 13-2 SU and 11-2-2 ATS over their last 15 road games, including a current stretch of 10 straight wins away from home. The Ravens will look to extend their road winning streak with another victory Sunday night over the New England Patriots.

Opening Odds Analysis
Early action on the Ravens as opening favorites of -6.5 on the road has bumped the line up slightly to Baltimore -7. The shift on the total has been more extreme as steady bets on the OVER have moved the line from its opener of 40.5 points up to 43.5 points. New England is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games as a betting underdog.

Baltimore News & Notes
The Ravens bounced back nicely from their 28-24 loss at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a 24-10 win on the road as 1-point underdogs against the Indianapolis Colts.

Lamar Jackson completed 19 of his 23 pass attempts for 170 yards and rushed for 58 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. Jackson isn’t putting up the same numbers as he did during his MVP season in 2019, but he has still been an effective leader with only four interceptions on the season and a team-leading 469 rushing yards.

Baltimore has the best scoring defense in the NFL through the first nine weeks of the season, allowing only 17.8 points per game. The team’s only two losses have come against the 8-0 SU Pittsburgh Steelers and the 8-1 SU Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens are remarkably consistent against bad teams with an 8-1 SU and 6-2-1 ATS record in their last nine games as a favorite of 6 points or more.

New England News & Notes
New England narrowly escaped from East Rutherford with a 30-27 victory over the winless New York Jets on Monday night. The Patriots failed to cover the spread as 9.5-point favorites but managed to snap a four-game losing streak with the win. The team trailed by 10 in the fourth quarter before scoring 13 unanswered points to steal the win.

But while the Patriots did eventually come away with a win, they looked about as bad as they could facing a Jets team that was 0-8 SU and losing its games by an average of 18 points heading into Monday night.

Cam Newton failed to record a touchdown pass for the fourth straight game and still owns a 2-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio on the season. New England is just 1-4 SU and ATS over its last five games.

It’s hard to imagine the Patriots being a 7-point underdog, especially at home in the second half of the season. But this isn’t the New England team of the last two decades with Tom Brady around to help carry the team through its injury woes. This is a subpar team that isn’t likely to put up much of a fight against a team as good as Baltimore is.

Baltimore is 13-5-1 ATS over its last 19 games.
New England is 11-4 SU in its last 15 games vs Baltimore.
The UNDER is 4-1 in New England’s last 5 home games.
